There are people who have gone through rounds of surgery, chemo, radiations or any other of a number of SCIENTIFIC medical advancements to come out the other side and say, “It was God’s Miracle that saved me”. I am okay with that; if it is your belief-then all medical interference is discounted. That said, if stem cell is going to offer new technology and research to cures for some pretty awful diseases than why the discord? This seems to be an argument that is being waged by ummm…Christians? I mean on one side you have priests, ministers and the like and the other you have Nancy Regan and other ministers for goodness sakes…Why?
And yes I understand the issue; I am just wondering why Christians are on polar opposites on the same issue…

Stem Cells are awesome. I'm gonna open up a store and sell them to hospitals. I'm gonna make a killing! (Hahaha, prolife abortion joke)

I am a Christian, and I think it was a miracle that God made stem cells so they could help scientists cure horrible diseases. I think abortion should be legal, but under certain regulations. But I don't think people should make generalizations about other people.

We are against stem cell research for the same reason we're against abortion: it destroys a life.
In essence, the scientific community is trying to tell us it's ok to destroy "cells" in order to save a "real" human being. We honor and respect the sanctity of all human life.
However, I haven't heard of any Christians against experimentation with stem cells derived from cord blood. No killing of babies is required for that option.

The very basic and the simplest argument would be fetal rights-stem cells are obtained from an unborn fetus, could this be harmful to the child after birth in the long run?

The problem is fetal stem cell research. Anything that requires a partial birth abortion is wrong. Also, there is no promising research that has yet come out of fetal stem cell research. All the current results have come out of adult stem cell research.

I think that it is the same with the abortion debate. Many Christians believe in pro-choice and many are anti-abortion. Those that are pro-choice think that stem cells are a good idea and those are are not think that stem cells are a bad idea. I think that the divide just depends on your personal beliefs, not your religion (although, people prop their ideas up with religion).

I am a Christian. I think that stem cell technology is wonderful. The breakthrough in this field took years of testing and many great minds. I believe give credit where credit is due. My Catholic upbringing taught me to believe with an open mind.

The average human is evil. If this technology becomes accepted, the evil human heart will use it to further plans of power and control that goes beyond the curing of disease. If scientists can bypass the natural human reproductive cycle, and grow embryoes only intended for curing disease, you know the evil human heart will want more out of this technology.

I style of agree yet for scientific purposes. i think many treatments could be carried out with the aid of stem cellular study because it is going to end the physique rejecting different physique aspects for transplants.

I'm going to echo someone else's answer here.
Thank goodness that science doesn't wait for miracles. We'd still be using leeches and dancing around to remove "evil spirits"...
