No they should not be married because once they marry, they could no longer do their obligations as priests.

Catholic priests are not allowed to be married according to the Catholic religion. They must take a vow of celibacy. If however they decide later that they want to be married then they can no longer be a priest. Pentecostal priests are allowed to get married. They are an offspring of the Catholic church with some differences.

Just a note, married men in certain parts of the Catholic Church can be priests. It isn't a universal prohibition.

I do believe married men should be universally permitted to be priests, BUT that violates the sovereignty of the particular churches to make their own rules for internal discipline. In parts of the Church, married priests are the norm.

Christ clearly endorses celibacy for those in the service of the Kingdom;

"Not all can accept this word, but only those to whom it is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the kingdom of God. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it" (Matt. 19:11–12).

Paul also states preferences for celibacy over marriage and in fact commands that bishops who have been married may only have one wife. In other words, the clergy who are married may not remarry upon death of their spouse.

Should priests get married, NO. Should married men be able to be priests, yes. Should laicized priests be readmitted, yes.

Yes, yes, yes! There are some old traditions that do not belong in a modern world, priests fall into that category. How can a Priest council you effectively without the know how or knowledge of a loving relationship. It would be like a long time bachelor trying to tell you how to raise your children when he does not have any and has never been around them. Would you take the advice of such a person?

I am not Catholic but I truly believe the marriage was created for all men and women and that a priest is no different. Yes a priest should be able to be married.

Maybe I shouldn't answer this, as I'm not a Catholic.
I was raised in the Episcopal church.
Yes, I think priests should be allowed to marry. As Paul put it, it is better to marry than to burn.

The Catholic church has not kept this doctrine, anyhow. There are too many valid stories about pregnant nuns, child molesting priests, even illegitimate children of popes. Evidently, sexual repression not only doesn't work, it causes much more harm than good.

I am catholic, and i wouldn't mind one bit if priests were allowed to marry. I understand the whole scarifice and giving yourself to the church bit. I get that. But my answer has nothing to do with molestation.

I think making a priest a family man would allow him a keener insight into the changing catholic faith. See how young kids really act, and be more of a real father figure to his church. Being a family man shouldn't be a bad thing for priests, if anything i think it could help them be better priests.

I'm Catholic and I believe priests should be able to marry. I'm basing this on the idea that priests are supposed to be able to counsel their parishoners in all areas of life and I don't think they can have an informed opinion or offer advice without experience. In addition, celibacy does not seem like a normal lifestyle to me.

Yes i think they should be allowed to marry. Other people are able to work in positions like theirs and have a normal home life so why should they be denied this. God did not command that all priests should be single, this is a man made rule and one i feel is outdated. I am not a Catholic but i am not anti Catholic. x

I'm Anglican. I think Catholic priests should marry. If I remember my history correctly, a long time ago they were allowed to marry. Also, if they were allowed to marry perhaps the priest shortage would ease up.

I'll try to keep my answer intelligent.

I am a Protestant, BTW.
Yes, I think that they need to get away from the pagan traditions that were implied upon that institution. I don't believe they ever will, but I think they should. There are some married preists already, and so far, I don't see it hurting anyone.

Being that it was from a pagan religion that unmarried priesthood sprung, I think they need to stop practicing it.

And while they are at it, get rid of that ridiculous hat. Dagon the Fishgod is not Christian! On the contrary!
