I think that red would be a great color for bridesmaids to wear but they don't have to just because of the embroidery on your dress. If they do end up wearing red you should really be sure that it doesn't clash with the red on your dress. I guess that really depends on how much red is on your dress. You just don't want them to clash with you.
If you want to do something subtler, they could always wear brown or tan, a lot of colors look good with red. Purple and lavendar actually look really rich and luxurious next to red and it's a really nice color combo. As for what colors you should do...if your dress does have red in it I personally think you should use red as either your main color or an accent color. The other color could be anything else you like. Silver looks nice with red. Depending on what your bridesmaids look like, you could do a yellow theme (I know yellow doesn't look good on a lot of people, but yellow and red together are bright and nice for summer).
As long as it is July now, a really good thing to do would be to go to florist shops. Not like the ones in grocery stores but real florists. You can see what bouquets they have made up that have red in them, and see if you like the color combos. That way if you like anything you could just write down the types of flowers as well as the colors and start from there. Good luck!

you could do black bridesmaid dresses. Then have red flowers. Red Roses. A lot of girls will not feel comfortable wearing red. Also red draws attention. There for all the attention is going to be on the bridesmaids and not you. Don't do any blue. Very simple flowers, and black bridesmaid dresses. Look for the tea length dresses for the girls because it is the summer time. I did just that and everyone was happy and thought it was beautiful. My invitations were black then you opened them and the writing was on white with a red back round. It was very simple but it made a big statement. A lot of people started to think is was a very very formal wedding because of the invite.

I concurr with the "bridesmaids could wear cream with red accents" comment. I really wanted to tell you about an idea I heard from a neighbor. Her grandson got married a few months ago. The bride picked out two different fabrics, hers happened to be white on white print and soft pink. She cut the fabric into 16 inch squares and centered them in silver embroidery hoops. She put one of the hoops at each wedding table with silver pens and a note to decorate the fabric however they would like. After the wedding my neighbor took the squares and made a wall hanging quilt. It looked really nice, and a great keepsake of the wedding.

Ive always loved red, and its a very traditional wedding color. Im using a red shade, but its not the red most people use. Its like a wine red with a hint of purple. Its very pretty. I put a pale pink with it, and they look lovely together. You dont necissarily need to have your brides maids in red too though. You could always have the maid of honor wear red, and the other brides maids a different color? That would be neat.
If you havent done it already, I would go out and get a wedding planner. I would be sooo lost if I hadnt of bought one. I spent about $15 on it, but it has saved my butt a few times!!
Good luck and best wishes!!!!

For my wedding I had an ivory dress with red trim. My bridesmaids wore red to accent my dress. I think it looked fantastic and we received tons of compliments but if you aren't fond of doing red then consider what time of day you'll be having the wedding. If it's an evening event you can get away with having your girls wear formal black gowns, champagne and silver are nice colors too. To see some of our pics you can go to our wedding website: http://normandandjessica.weddingannouncer.com I would also reccomend looking in bridal magazines for a bit for ideas, you have plenty of time! Good luck and congrats!

Red and black I thought were bad luck luck colors. A touch of red in your dress sounds beautiful. May I suggest a light yellow or a chiffon. Blue is a nice color and some many different shades to choose from. Good luck oh, go to your local library and look at different bridal magazines this way you can see the new styles and colors.

maybe have the bridesmaids wear something in a bright pink color, I think red at a wedding is too sultry and will deflect attention away from you. Also i did this at my wedding and it was SSOOOO cool. At the end, instead of throwing rice, everyone opened these little triangle boxes with our wedding date and our names on it, and realeased live butterflies. there were about 1000 butterflies, coolest thing! you can find adds for that in most wedding magazine's in the very back in the adds!!!

Put the brides maids in flag printed dresses. That would be fly because it is july 4th. Set off some fieworks after the ceremony. Play off that theme. There are some really cool things you can do with it. Congradulations and good luck. Hope I helped some.

When my sister got married - she used red as an accent color and the other two colors were ivory and black - it was Beautiful - the bridesmaids all wore black and carried lanterns with battery powered lights instead of candles - the lanterns were painted a matte black and trimmed in tiny red roses at the handle and ivory ribbon - it was awesome

red would be a nice color - people do it all the time. Silver might be a nice accent color to go with the red. Just make sure to use a "blue red" and not an "orange red"
