Start with a very clean coffee pot... you should run half a pot of white vinegar through once a month. Follow by 3 full pots of water to rinse.

Next, make sure you use good water. If your tap water is nasty, your coffee will be too. So use cold filtered or bottled water.

Last, use good coffee! The best (in my opinion) is Starbucks whole beans. I grind them myself at home just before I brew. If you don't have a grinder, get Starbucks already ground.

Follow package directions for amounts. And experiment. If the package directions make the coffee too strong for you, use less... if it's too weak add more!

To zing up you coffee add a tablespoon of nutmeg and/or cinnammon to the grounds before brewing!

Clean out your coffee maker with equal parts white vinegar and water. Let it brew through a cycle, and then send through two more pots of plain water. Also make sure you run your coffee pot and filter basket through the dishwasher every day.

Use a good, high quality coffee, and as soon as it's finished brewing, remove the filter with the wet grounds from the filter basket, as this can cause your coffee to be bitter.

Don't store your coffee in the fridge or freezer...it can absorb odors and taste funny.

If you like flavored, try adding 1 tsp. ground cinnamon to the coffee grounds before you brew them. So good!

Use a plunger-style coffee carafe, fresh, filtered water, and freshly ground coffee. A small pinch of salt helps too. Add very hot, not boiling, water to the coffee... boiling water spoils the flavor...

Get a French Press. It's a bit of a pain, but it'll make great coffee out of any decent grounds. Convenience is overrated.

I like to have a rich blend, like Sumatran or Colombian...grind it very fine, brew it, have it with sugar and cream

If I really want a treat, I might add a flavored syrup, like vanilla or hazelnut.

You can spike it with vodka, Irish cream, or an orange flavored liqueur. and top it off with whipped cream.

Always grind your beans right before brewing. Ground them fine for more flavor.

Buy good beans - you get what you pay for when it comes to coffee.
