I was put on Cymbalta for depression and pain control. The first day I took it I had tons of energy and NO pain. The second day all I wanted to do was sleep. I started taking it at bedtime and that worked for me. However, it did not do a great deal after that point for either depression or pain and I was taken off from it. I was told that it is not that strong of a medication and needs to be used in conjunction with other meds.

I have a close friend with years of chronic depression as well as situational. She said it worked fast (no 6 week thing like Zoloft) and has very few side effects.
I started lamictal about six months ago. I am very sensitive to side effects of anitdepressants. Although lamictal hasn't been approved for depression (it's an anti-siezure) it works great. The depression is 90% gone, and daily thoughts of suicidal fantasies are totally gone. The only side effect is vivid dreams and some jaw clenching.

I have. At 30 mg, it was rather ineffective. At 60, it was OK, but not ideal. I have gone back to SSRIs, I guess for me, it is really only a Serotonin issue (You know Cymbalta works on both Serotonin and Neuropinephrine). As for side effects, it was tolerable, nothing terrible. The worst was sweating a lot. Also, I found it easier to take it in the morning. At bedtime, it interfered with my sleep. It is supposed to help with chronic pain too, but I did not see any improvement in my migraines. I took it for about four months.

My Daughter and Son both are on this med...and they say it works. Why not give it a try and see if you can get some relief. Best wishes.
