I tore my PCL in my right knee about 2 months ago, it's healing good enough, although a little too slow for my liking. I didn't have to have surgery because it healed so well but I still limp for a bit and I can't straighten it all the way yet. I usually put a pillow underneith my knee or calf when I lay down on my stomach at night.
I plan on getting back into a trade job in the future, I enjoy the workouts when I get into working my butt off. I worked for a General Contractor for years so I'm versitile but I am worried about getting out there and hurting myself for good.
What I wanted to know is will I be able to go running or workout in the future once it heals all the way?

Talk with your doctor or physical therapist about what activities you should do, and the timing to start them.

I have subluxing knee caps, and it seemed like every kind of work out hurt my knees (even swimming!), until we finally bought a nordic track skiier from the local thrift store. It's been so wonderful for me to be able to work out again.

I know you miss it, and it can be very hard and depressing, but there is something out there you will be able to to. For now, just consentrate on your physical therapy exercises, and be patient with yourself.

I agree with daisy..I have had numerous knee injuries due to being a former bodybuilder and currently a semi pro rugby player.

The trick is to see a GREAT sports Ortho and RESIST the temptation to not wear the knee brace or workout even when it starts to feel better. Do your stretches and your PT workouts (with the stupid bands and such)...

I have dislocated my knees, cracked the patellas, torn ligament and have fully healed from all cause I took it slow and LISTENED to my doctor.

Yes, once it heals all the way, it should be fine. Just start back slow. In the meantime, try something with low impact, like biking.

of course! You have to retrain yourself and have more discipline. Never say never!
