I keep seeing uninformed Christians bringing this idealogy up time and again. The FACTS are that he did not repent and become Christian on his deathbed.

""Did Darwin become a Christian at his deathbed?" the answer to this question is most likely negative. Darwin died on April 19, 1882, but the story of Darwin's conversion was not published until many years later. Darwin's daughter Henrietta was at his deathbed. She said that her father did not become a Christian before he died. This was reported in the Humanist magazine. Darwin's son Francis wrote a book about his father in which no mention was made that his father was ever converted. Quite the contrary, he confirmed that he was an agnostic, an unbeliever until his dying day."

Elizabeth Reid Hope (née Cotton1; December 9, 1842–8 March 1922) was a British evangelist who is generally believed to be the Lady Hope who claimed in 1915 that she had visited the British naturalist Charles Darwin shortly before his death in 1882. Hope claimed that Darwin had recanted his theory of evolution on his deathbed, and accepted Jesus Christ as his saviour.

Charles Darwin's family denied the story, and insisted that Lady Hope "was not present during his last illness, or any illness." The Lady Hope Story is generally recognised, even by many Creationists, to be false — or at least unverifiable — and if true, probably exaggerated. The story remains a popular urban legend, even though it stands in sharp contrast to Darwin's published and known views about Christianity.

So some are saying Darwin was out of his mind and delusional before he died?

Apparently not - I believe his daughter, who said Lady Hope's silly story was a lie.

Imagine a devout Christian lying to fool other Christians. On second thought, it's an age-old tradition, beginning with the compilation and translation of the New Testament.

What I believe in religion is that since religious are so many they try always to convice people to agree on religious matters. Probably it is true that Charles Darwin repented before his death but if you are a scientist doe that convece you that is ideas are not true? I belive that Charles Darwin if studed with all efforts like the way christians are sturding about Jesus Christ it could be possible Science to be believed in the years to come. Because Juses said he will turn back but where is he until this time. They are just waiting for him but he doen't come back. But Darwin with natural selection tells us something that is tangible. How do you seggest? Real we see natural selection working in the theory of survival of the fitest! Mlangajap@yahoo.com

What sin did he do to repent for? Just because for being a Scientific person & not believing in the Bible, doesn't mean he was Sinned - Who are Christians to label who is a Sinner & Sinless based on a finite book (Bible) - Instead that's GOD's (The Infinite) duty!

In my opinion, i believe GOD would have been very impressed with Darwin's Thoughts even if Darwin didn't believe in Him. At least Darwin went further than the writings of the finite book (Bible) to determine the workings of his (GOD) creations.

No. This turned right into a rumour all started by using a dreadful lady time-honored as Elizabeth Cotton or "woman desire", a non secular zealot and member of the Temperance circulate (a prohibitionist circulate) who all started this rumour in 1915. This changed into roundly refuted by using Darwin's surviving kinfolk, maximum of whom insisted that she had under no circumstances even met their father. Charles Darwin changed into initially a Christian creationist he changed into initially going to bypass into the priesthood (because it can supply him quite some free time to pursue his activity interior the organic international) notwithstanding he changed into provided a niche on the HMS Beagle and that ultimately led him to discover evolution. Later in existence he self noted as an agnostic. None of this truly concerns. Darwin's reviews on evolution are irrelevant. From a modern perspective, Darwin's textile is 100 and fifty years old-formed. even as he may honestly recognize modern evolutionary idea as his own he may also see a tremendous kind of dramatic alterations, or perhaps finished sub-fields that he had under no circumstances even dreamed about. all of us comprehend 1000 situations extra about evolution than Darwin ever did. shall we even assume for a 2d that the tale is genuine, that Darwin did recant evolution on his demise mattress? So what? Does that recommend evolution isn't genuine? What if Isaac Newton had recanted the rules of action on his demise mattress? it would not count number they're nonetheless demonstrably genuine. Darwin and Newton did not invent evolution or gravity, it is only named after them because they got here across it.

The implication that Darwin needed repentance because of his scientific theory is a concept more suited for the dark ages than today.

One of the best ways to tell Christianity is nonsense is the lies that people tell when they attempt to justify it.

If Christianity stood on a solid foundation, people would not have to lie.

Obviously, Christianity is built on and supported by lies.

Which makes me wonder how these liars ever expect to get into the "heaven" they so much like to brag about.

Honestly who cares. Darwin was a genius and he made the essential linkages between organism on this planet. Who cares if he repented or what ever. He was a brilliant man, a scientist, a naturalist...........he was studying to be a clergyman, and he obviously found his own peace elsewhere.....let him rest in peace!

Christians have often claimed that famous "infidels" repented on their deathbed. Like Tom Paine. Or Robert Ingersoll, who they say told his son to burn all his papers. Fact is, he had no son. Interesting how these "moral" people see fit to make up lies to promote their silly religion.

If you are seeing it time and again...why are you bringing it up yet again? Darwin didn't convert on his deathbed, that is documented FACT. If the Christians can't deal with it it's their problem. PEACE!
