It is impolite, socially unacceptable behaviour.

Here is what you can do to stop this dead on its tracks:

Serve him first. No one else sits at the table. .... OR....

You go to another place. Never eat with him again till he corrects this behaviour. He will get the message. Do it quietly and you will see: Actions speak louder than words. You should do it like you mean it.

If at anytime, you break the rules YOU set, then you lost.

If at anytime, after you get his promise, he breaks it you will NEVER ever eat with him again. And, that should be final.

For him to say it is cultural is wrong. A decent human of ANY CULTURE, including INDIAN culture do that. This is a bunch of non-sense.

Farts For Dinner

I was going to propose anal-feeding. This will engage the outlet. Instead of coming out things will go in. On the other hand probably he is going to burp then, which is not good too.

He may try to go to the toilet before eating. This may reduce the smell and frequency. If there will no smell he may try to lower the volume level of the sound and thus be unnoticed.

Poor guy! Does he fart when you guys make love? My g/f does (no smell great sound). I'm used to it now.

You could just tell him that either he stops it or he starts eating alone after everyone else that can be polite about their gas is finished. Or, start making him take Beano at all meals.

It's very rude to you and any family that might be present. You shouldn't have to deal with that and neither should anyone else. If all else fails, use the same trick he's using. Say that in your culture it's considered very rude and you would appreciate it if he would respect your culture a little.

Hope you get that taken care of.

And you actually married this guy??? Did you know about this habit before you married him??? Jeez, this would have been grounds for breaking up right away during the dating phase. And if he started it after you got married, that's just plain dishonest.

Explain to him that in this culture, that's considered BEYOND rude. Ask him if he needs to do that, please excuse himself from the table and go to the bathroom.

Oh - and I've shared meals with Indian people, and I never, ever saw this. I think he's full of it.

If he won't change his behavior, refuse to eat with him.

What ever you hear here I don't think it will make your hubby stop farting at the table, with that said, place his food dish on the floor away from the table, and tell him if he is going to act like a dog, he can eat like a dog!

Yuck. My husband is a toot machine. But at the dinner table I ask him to restrain himself. Too gross. Burp, maybe. Fart, no way.

there is no way i would be okay with smelling someone's body fumes. if he has to fart, he has to leave the room, that's just polite. to fart while someone is eating is rude, gross. how can someone not know this? to say that this is a cultural thing is passing the buck. he's a rude , crude, smelly dude.

Burping after a meal is a compmlament in some countrys but your hubby is being rude> I would ask him to stop it. If it were my hubby and he didnt stop I would take my plate and leave the table to eat elsewhere. He would get the hint.
