Because bacteria such as ecoli can be present in the urine and make other people very sick before the chlorine has a chance to kill all the germs. It takes chlorine up to half hour to kill all of the germs.

Well, there are several reasons why. Personally, do you want to swim in a pool after someones peed in it. I wouldn't. It's just gross and unsanitary. It can spread certain diseases as well when other people come in contact with someones urine. It is also a wrongdoing and in some areas the pools have a chemical that turns color when you urine comes in contact with it due to an acid-base reaction. When that happens you're in trouble. You want to take the chance? I don't. also...there is something called the restroom...so use that instead.

Urine is sterile. It's only just gross because you have a cloud of yellow around you. Bacteria like e.coli comes from the other end. It's not even harmful for someone to drink all of that dispersed urine. pee away!

If you do have something like a UTI/Bladder Infection why are you swimming in the first place? You can release bacteria with an infection such as that.

This is precisely the reason I refuse to let my son do swimming lessons in a public pool until he's old enough to know not to drink the water!
