I'm african American and I use virtuo pro which leaves my hair straight and silky. Bought it at the mall.

CHI has really good flat irons. You usually only have to go over your hair once and it's straight. I'm a stylist so I'm always looking for the best tools. Hope that helps.

The chi iron. I started using the chi in january and i loved it. before then i used to get my hair relaxed every 4-5 weeks, now i can hold out to 7 weeks. this is a great iron and it is cheaper to buy it off ebay

try a chi with ceramic plates or a babyliss with ceramic plates orrrr a hot tools with ceramic plates... check out some sweet ones at rock bottom prices at www.ebay.com. ther ceramic plates are amazing because they hold the heat so much better and evenlyl than old fasioned metal plates that heat unevenly and just let the heat escape

Try the Chi brand. It's pricey, but it works great!
