try logging out and log back in.

if still having troubles i suggest reboot and then try again.
or try running task manager from
C:\WINDOWS\system32
you would find a file taskmgr over there.

if still doesn;t work you might have a sec/group policy over riding your access permissions.

if still having problems.. it might be due restrictions placed in Registry. DisableTaskMgr value is set to 1. To enable Task Manager, try this:

Click Start, Run and type this command exactly as given below: (

Regedit.exe and navigate to:
HKCU \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System

In the right-pane, double-click DisableTaskMgr and set it's data to 0

hope this helps

A virus or other malware has probably disabled your Task Manager. Your computer could probably use a good scrubing for malware. Here is a procedure I use:

1. Scan for virus and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

http://www.bitdefender.com/site/home/

2. Scan for trojans and remove (free online scan) with Ewido

http://www.ewido.net/en/

3. Scan for ad/spyware and remove (free download) with Spybot Search & Destroy

http://www.safer-networking.org/en/spybotsd/index.html

When your computer is clean, if Task Manager is still not back, follow the procedure here:

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Taskmanager_error.htm

Good luck.

Chances are you have a virus or spyware on your system that may be preventing you from accessing Task Manager so you cant turn it off! try running a scan for spyware and a virus scan before trying to access TM again, if that doesn't work you can try this:-
Run Regedit, go to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ policies\ system]

Delete the line

"DisableTaskMgr "=dword:00000000
That should fix it. Good luck!

Got back log in and make sure you are the first and primary Admisnistrator. If there are other then set them as secondary.
