You are basically puny. By what right do we have to NAME the Creator? The ancient Asians say " The One That Created". Thought provoking enough??

I believe it actually goes back to before the concept of God as we know it came into existance.
Names were thought to have powerful magic associated with them (summoning, etc.) You never gave just anyone your real "name" and so you had a true name and a social name, so no one could enthrall you. Because you didn't want to inadvertantly summon a possibly P.O.'d god, you didn't call them by name.
Other ways to look at it are:
1. God's real name is unpronounceable with our primative speech
2. How does something who created existance with a thought get named?
3. You cannot label that which is indescribable.

Good point.
The name of God appeared over 7,000 times in early Bibles.
However, it has slowly been hidden away.
Why?
It makes God less personal and therefore those who wish to only have a facade of Christianity can work it out easier.

I don't know really. Good question. A few guesses though: Maybe there are just too many names for God, so we just call him God. Also, if God has a 'name' he is too human. God is an Omnipotent being, therefore his name shouldn't (in our eyes) be Steve.

Because that's the word most often used to describe him in the bible, and they like the sound of it. It is comforting to them to feel that the world is being over-seen by a father-like all powerful being, no matter if he's imaginary or not.

Actually, I believe in the bible it says Yahweh / I Am, Jehovah, it depends on which sect you go to.

Maybe they think calling him 'Yahweh' is like, calling a queen or king their first name, rather than "Your Magesty"
