Since when has truth been determined by majority vote?

All religion is man made it all makes the same claim that it comes from God. This claim is partially true but people can never stand to leave Gods word alone. This is because god’s word is consistent and does not mesh well with their personal preconceptions and bigoted ideas. So they make little changes here and there injecting their thoughts into the mix tainting the word with nonsense. For this reason you should not put much faith in these ideas about god that come from others. If God wants to tell you something He is perfectly capable of telling you directly.

Maybe you should stop reading what other people say about God and ask him to tell you what he wants you to do directly. Stop reading; clear you mind and listen. When you pray get you’re talking over as soon as possible and listen. He is trying to talk to you but your mind is full of nonsense from the bible and other sources. Don’t be surprised if what you hear does not sound much like what you have been told about God. You will be hearing Gods message minus the nonsense.

In your bible study have you ever heard of the small still voice? You can't hear it if your mind is otherwise occupied with other people’s silly ideas about God. I’m sure that this sounds crazy to you because it always did to me before someone actually explained to me how it was done. Just try it you will be surprised if you actually have the patience to try long enough for it to work.

Your English is fine.

There are a lot of reasons people believe in any figure or religion. To some it's a way of coping with things they don't have an education about - ancient gods were how people understood the workings of the world. To others it gives them a frame work to live in and be able to handle moral and ethical issues. To a frightening degree there are a vocal segment of almost every religion who use it to justify their hate of others.

I do quite well without it, but that's me. To say others are wrong for what they believe is just as bad as someone telling you the same for NOT believing. It's when those lines are crossed that conflict occurs... and sadly there are a lot of people who don't understand that freedom OF religion also means freedom FROM religion for those who don't want it intruding into our lives.

There are hundreds of "true" faiths all trying to kill each other to prove they are right. IF there is a god it's either crying in shame over what's done in it's name or laughing sadistically for the suffering it's allowing.

Christianity has never appealed to the mainstream of the human race. Just because the major of the world's population do not embrace Jesus does not mean that Christianity is wrong. The majority is usually not right, as they follow the pride of the devil, rather than the voice of God. Democracy is a good example---it favors the wealthy, who are corrupt, and installs them in office to govern our affairs. The monarchy is no better because it continues the line of corruption from generation to generation with little chance of reform. Dictatorships and theocracies are rule by terrorism. I agree with you that there are a lot of abusive people in the Christian world---people who use their positions to do great harm in the name of Jesus. But those persons have already earned their reward in hell---the Bible says so. If you study the faith that Jesus and the apostles left us in the New Testament, then you will see that Christianity is the only way. It is the only assurance that you have of salvation. After all, the must a a hereafter in order to justify the here and now. Jesus loves you.

I mean, I'm not a Christian myself, I'm actually Agnostic. But I think I can represent their thinking patterns. Are you joking?? How about vice versa, buddy?! You think all the people of the world are idiots, and you're the first one that thought of this??! Christian's can be quite ignorant, but there's open minded ones who have thought this through and decided to keep believing in The Force. I mean, God. You're more ignorant than they are, thinking your idea's sooooo original, when you can't even spell 'invitation' and 'sensitivity' properly!! (Sorry, that's the only other thing I found to pick at. Is English your second language or something?) Yeah, and I used to wonder the same thing too (trust me, you're not the first to think this) but obviously SOMETHING told them that God is really there or there wouldn't be so many damn martyrs. Either that, or they're all nutcases. You decide, but I refuse to believe such a massive population of our world is run by insane idiots.

I just wanted to clear that up for you, because you're NOT the only one, including within the Christian or Non-Christian population to think of the such.

Another thing-- the concept of the Bible alone has a moral value that you do want, whether you believe in God himself or not. I attend church (well, I have to, read the last sentence) and I don't mind going because I'm interested in Religious Studies. I've noticed that even though a lot of the crap they wrote in the Bible is pretty corrupt, (!!) what they teach today seems to have a lot of ethics you want to keep in mind, you know? So even if Jesus and God is just a figure "they" created to keep us normal people in check (which is highly unlikely, duhh), a lot of the Bible's words and teachings fit, don't they?

Hey, instead of apologizing for your English, just go improve it. Fanfiction, it's a great way to improve your vocabulary, and meet some prodigies before they get famous. I'm 13, so don't bite at me if some of my ideas are totally off my rocker.

Well you are entitled to your opinion. Religion was setup to worship God and live a clean, wholesome life. Today, many religions ( not all ) have been corrupted by lies, deceit and hate.

But my main point is, that God promises his faithful followers that he will stop death, pain, suffering and war. No human government can make that claim. Every human wants peace and death to stop forever. Through religion and faith, we can see this happen.

If you don't believe, then that's on you. Because if you are right and there is no such thing as God and he's not going to save us from this wicked world, then the human race is in BIG TROUBLE.

If religious people are right, then we will live in peace and love and all the wicked will be destroyed along with Satan and his demons.

Which one do you want PEACE or CHAOS?

Firstly, if that million other ppl told u to jump off a cliff, will you? So don't give that as a lame excuse for being agnostic/an atheist. Secondly, even if God didn't exist, we would have created Him, someone wise said. Granted it's a phenomenon: Hope and faith still gives people a reason to keep running..you don't have to be a Christian, Hindu, Moslem, or a Greek pagan worshipper etc. to follow a religion. Your God is You. Your religion is Your Lifestyle. Live upto it..dude!

Abraham Lincoln faced a similar situation when he saw how many people advocated slavery in his era of America. He knew they were wrong, but what could be done about it? His political counterpart, Stephen Douglass, argued that people are capable of determining what is morally right, so he advocated popular sovereignty to decide the slavery issue. Lincoln saw that selfishness (and greed and pride) were clouding the judgment of the majority of Americans (especially in the South). Opposing Douglass, he argued that when people's judgment is clouded, the government should step in. The people of his day called him a tyrant, but today we call him a hero.

The Bible teaches that people have a propensity toward evil (unlike the Enlightenment dogma that everyone is automatically good, but society causes them to be bad). This propensity is only overcome by the assistance of the Holy Spirit within the heart of each person. When people cooperate with the Holy Spirit in faith, they place their trust in Jesus Christ and become like totally new creatures. This is why Christians think and feel so differently from non-Christians on so many moral and theological things.

That is like asking why don't you belive in religion when millions of other people do. You are more out numbered than Christians. It doesn't really matter. People are going to believe what they believe. It is very true that the 'system' can use religion to manipulate people. But, personally it is a very real connection that I feel with God. That is why I believe. No other reason. I don't really have another reason to believe. I don't even usually like other Christians.

You succumb to the falicy that the majority is correct.

The truth is not determined by how many people believe something. After all, most people believed the earth was flat but it didn't make it the truth.

The truth is not dependent on how strongly you believe in it. If the ice on a pond is 1/32nd of an inch thick it will not hold you no matter how strongly you believe in it. It the ice is 5 inches thick it will hold you regardless of how little faith you have in it. It matters not how much faith you have but in what the object of your faith is.

I believe in Jesus as my Savior because I recognize that I am a sinner. And although I want to have a relationship with God, I am unworthy it because of my sin. There is nothing I can do to clean myself up or make up for all that I have done.

Jesus came to make a way for me to enjoy this relationship that I want... what I (we) were created for. It is a free gift, not dependent on how good or faithful or bad or anything about me. All I have to do is accept it, believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus the Christ. Then I am saved.

All other religions teach about how you can reach heaven, paradise, nirvana, nothing, emptiness, whatever you want to call it, through your own works.

Christianity teaches that enjoying that relationship is not dependant on what we do but on what He has already done for us through the cross.

Thanks for the 2 points.

By the same logic, are you an idiot because you don't believe in Jesus and millions of others do?

You (and the other atheists on this forum) should spend some time forming sincere questions or legitimate arguements against religion, and not just expecting everyone to believe as you do *just because* you say so.
