The dog probably misses his master. If he refuses water, use a bit of chicken boullion (cooled down) in water (big bowl). Keep dishes away from other pets if any (territories). Give lots of love while hugging and petting offer an ice cube. Try 'spilling' OOOooOOOps... water on the floor, most dogs like licking up the 'forbidden' dropped stuff. Cover with a cool wet towel. If all else fails, tell your brother, he may have an idea or call a vet

Some people will sprinkle a slight amount of salt to the dog food to encourage it drinking...but be really careful no to do too much.

The best way to get the dog to drink is to cook a chicken or some other meat in water...and then give the dog that water to drink. It will be flavored water and it tempts to dog to drink.

You can also wet the dogs food with water if you want to make sure it's getting enough moisture.

Generally, a dog will control it's own thirst. If there is a serious problem then I would consult a vet.

If this is the 1st time its been left w/ your mom he is protesting and wants out. But She can try to make some chiken broth and let it cool down. put a tiny bit in a big bowl of water, and make sure the dog sees her putting the broth in, if this doesn't work just keep the dog calm and give him ice cubes if it will chew on them he will get water. If he wont, then keep him cool, put some water on him if he is really really hot. Sometimes if someone "spills" water the dog will lick it up from the floor giving it a little bit of water.

I'm not sure but necessity should drive him to it eventually. Put the water in a corner out and away from the main living room, the dog may be intimidated by being in another territory (dogs are territorial) and may think if he isn't careful he'll be attacked by the dogs of this territory. Putting it out of the way may convince him he can sneak a drink without getting caught (like if he were in the wild).

just make sure there is enough provided, some dogs dont drink a whole lot even in warm weather. Usually if theyre active and out in the heat they will drink, but just laying around inside all day, they dont get very thirsty.

If you're terribly concerned, try a LITTLE bit of koolaid mix in the dogs water, sometimes they enjoy the flavor. (you dont need to add sugar)

If the bowl is clean and the water is fresh, a dog will normally drink exactly as much water as he needs. You can try adding some ice cubes to it - some dogs like to play with them.

It might be something more than just not drinking water, like a blockage. It might be a good idea to have the dog check out by a vet, just to make sure nothing else is going on.

Insure the water bowl is clean daily and free from slimy stuff. Fresh water several times a day. Watch to see if he is drinking water from some other source.

My dog will only drink if she's REALLY thristy and only if there's ice in her water (talk about spoiled!) It helps alot if I sit with her by her water bowl while she is drinking....it's like she doesn't want to miss anything and so she wont stand there by herself and just drink....Good Luck!
