The # 1 reason people cheat is self gratitude.

People want to feel wanted, appreciated, desired, respected, needed. Any person that does not know you, and finds you attractive will show you that 1. They want you. 2. They appreciate you only for as long as it takes to get you in the sack. 3. They desire having sex with you. 4. They respect you as much as it takes to get you in the sack. 5. They make you feel needed.

Some people do cheat because they are not getting the attention they want from thier spouse or partner. The new someone shows them the attention they think they need.

It boils down to selfishness. People that cheat are selfish. They only want to please themselves and don't care who they hurt in the meantime. Some do not think about the consiquences of thier actions before they do it.

Just remember this....... once a cheater, always a cheater! Oportunity will arise again, and being the selfish person they are, they will forget the pain it caused before and do it again.

My soon to be EX-wife will learn that what goes around will come around. One day, when she's madly in love with another person, he will cheat on her and take her heart out, throw it on the ground, and stomp on it, as she did mine!

My experience both for myself and those who I know, cheat because they are frightened. I cheated because I did not want to have to trust my wife. She cheated on me (while we split/separated according to her) because I left her, she was scared and she knew the person from before we were married and he knew she was vulnerable.

I do not know whether to believe her or not, but truthfully, I cheated for the same reasons, basically, while we were together.

I almost think cheating has to occur in a relationship in order to know if you're in the right relationship. And knowledge of the infidelity is the honesty that will bind you, in my case at least.

If there were any one main reason, I would have to say people cheat out of fear.

People cheat for all of the reasons mentioned above: selfishness, boredom, etc.

However, people failed to mention one major culprit: the media.
TV shows and movies constantly show protagonists who cheat on their spouses, and the cheaters are almost always excused for their behavior.

We are supposed to identify with the cheaters and forgive them because their spouse is ugly, busy, tired, or crabby, or because the cheater was under stress, tempted by someone unscrupulous, or they "couldn't control themselves".
Hip hop music tends to glorify infidelity.
Magazines explain how to get away with it.

There is NO excuse for infidelity, but the media makes it seem like an everyday acceptable thing.

If you're religious, you know adultery a sin.
If you're secular: we live in a society, people, and there are rules to follow!

People cheat for different reasons... for some it is a thrill of doing something clandestine... for others it is just about sex... I always was one of those people who said I would never... but I did.... I was extremely unhappy in my marriage because i married my husband but wasn't in love with him.. big mistake I admit... he was never home, I was lonely and my ex who I still am in love with to this day was there... and I cheated... I'm not proud and I make no excuses... it was wrong.. But I believe there are many different reasons why people stray in their relationship but bottom line I think it is because they arent' in the right relationship to begin with.

because they start to doubt whether or not they are attractive. Getting attention from someone else makes them feel good.

I'm sure there are lots of reasons, but I would think that would be the #1 reason. Other reasons are boredom, lack of attention from their spouse, sexual addictions, and in some rare cases, they may actually be in love with more than one person.

On a test: they don't know the answer!
On a mate: unsure that they are with the right person. I think it may be a disease or addiction in some cases because if it happens often it can be difficult to stop. I don't always think there is a definite person to blame.

There are many reasons. But I believe the number one reason is that they get tired of the person they are with. I'm not really sure, but that is just one of the many reasons why people do it.

I am not a cheater so I couldn't tell you....but apparently there are a lot of reasons out there....there's no reason to cheat ( just a lot of cheap excuses)...all you have to do is end one relationshiop before you start another....don't get married on a whim, take your time and once you're married.....COMMIT!!!!!

being selfish and only caring about themselves...there is something wrong with the relationship that they are currently in...the person that they are with isn't doing something right if they want to go out and cheat...or maybe they just want that NEW! feeling that you get when you first start dating someone
