no and the lie that Americans wont do those jobs is a lie and all those illegals are not in the fields picking fruit ok Americans will not work for slave wages ! and In fact, a meat-packing job paid $19 an hour in 1980, but today that same job pays closer to $9 an hour, according to the Labor Department. illegal aliens depress wages for U.S. workers by as much as $200 billion a year in addition to placing a tremendous burden on hospitals, schools and other social services.
from a poster named just a guy :
they claim they come here for jobs????....I think thats bull...there are available jobs paying good wages in tecate....I know that for fact.....Our company is actually paying for bus rides to find folks to work at the plant OUTSIDE of Tecate because there isnt enough folks there to work all the jobs.....

The reason is the economy. Who would pick the vegetables you eat, work in sweatshop factories that make the goods you buy, etc. Illegals are filling jobs that nobody in the U.S. wants or would do. Instead of deporting the illegals why not try chargeing and convicting employers who hire illegals without checking thier background and this issue would go away immediatly.
The fact is the illegal workers are needed and the government knows this. They do token round ups and border patrols knowing full well that most illegals will get across. After a few show deportations the situation continues.
Wouldn't you want to be a fly on the wall when employers complain about looseing thier workers to thier Congressman and the call goes to immigration to let up a bit or there will be no carrots in the supermarkets.

I do agree that illegal immigration is hurting america, the america that is racist and thinks that mexicans in general and other south american people are here to freeload off of these great country. Let us not forget how this country started, remember them pilgrems arriving here on ships to get away from taxation and in search a better life amongst other things. remember how they were here and befreinded the indians and had thanksgiving and then went to war with them, massacred and took over their land. there were a lot of murderers back then lets not forget but they werent cast out of the country. This country was created by illegal immigrants, the difference is now that everybody has forgotten about their roots. My father was an illegal immigrant and he has worked since he has been here, he has never asked anybody for anything. We have never been on welfare and never will I. On the other hand my sister born and raised in the united states has 4 kids, one on the way and she's milking the u.s. for everything she can, why, because america has created a system that makes us depend on them and lets people be lazy. Majority of people in welfare are lazy, loosers and jobless americans, and it is not because the ilegal immigrant mowing the lawn or the hispanic maid cleaning the hotel bathrooms or the mexican cook in the back slaving over the grill took our jobs, its because we thing we are owed something, we want stuff for free!. Hey they don't care making $5.50 an hour, why? because they are here to feed their homes make a better life for themselves and their family here or in their countries. They work because they have too, they jump the border because they must in order to survive, Americans can just go to that little office building with the 200+ people in line watiting to complain how they cant find a job and we will give them a check or two or threee etc..etc... Some americans want to make 12 dollars and hour cleaning toilets, well maybe not toilets because they feel they are too good for that but to work at mcdonalds. Don't blame illegal immigrants for taking your jobs, for being criminals, and what ever else you want to blame them for, thats what america does best, label people and blame others instead of taken responsibility and stepping up when they need to. I do believe that criminals should be sent back or in prison, but who are we kidding, not all of illegal immigrants are criminals. criminals are not a race, they are everywhere, all colors, sizes and of different societies. Illegal immigrants are not the biggest problem in this country, War is, gas prices and politics (bush administration) should be priority. I'll tell you this, build a wall and it will come down, you will not be able to stop it, not matter how hard you try. Enforce illegal immigration laws but be fair and if we are at war with the purpose of helping the common folk have better lives why can't we start here. with our neighbors. God Sees everything, feels everything and and hears everything.

Well I look at it this way...I don't feel that it should be "illegal" to move from one country to another, when God made this would he did not put magical lines seperating land, (humans put thoes in) ofcourse people from different countrys are going to want to come here, we are after all "better off" than most every other country in the world. However, I know they dont want to leave their familys to come to this place where people hate them and treat them like crap, they come here to surive! Mexico for example is a friggin beautiful country Honduras as well, every day my husband tells me storys about how he misses the beaches, the weather ect...mostly the people because they are so much more friendly and welcoming. They are willing to hepl anyone who needs it, not like here where people are so quick to judge and hate! so immigration shouldnt be illegal in the first place, but since it is, we all need to obay the law. The government should put the word out that all illegal immigrants need to come forward (they will not be arrested or punnished) but be givin the right to become a citicin, recieve s.s.#'s and be required to go to a special school to learn U.S. laws and english. This school would create a few more jobs for Americans too :) And as far as the borders, security does need to be a bit tighter there, but if America made it clear to immigrants that it is not that hard to "enter the right way" and that it wont take alot of money and time, then there wont be so much "border jumping"

No matter how much people dog out immigrants, it is a fact that immmigration will continue to happen. What I think should be done, is for those who are already here, tax them. They are here to work, not to take someones job. Like you said their is no guarantees that taxes are being paid so why not benefit from all these people that want to be here and wish to stay here. Everyone else pays taxes! I don't understand why people focus on this and make such a big deal out of it. We should be worried about other issues that are more important. Soldiers are DYING everyday and some people ignore that, but make a big deal about immigration... I don't get it!!!!

Nope, it's time to bring an end to the illegal immigration, time to get Mexico firmly on the path to its' own independence, and some of our 'representatives' firmly on the path toward honest work...reform doesn't have to hurt, but you do have to start somewhere, open ethics hearings concerning chronic conflicts of interest where the labor laws and immigration are concerned would be a super-duper place to start.
I'd like to see the border fence go in, I'd like to see the Border Patrol get the money, people, and disinterested 3rd-party oversight that it needs(to keep it an honest activity, they need someone outside to keep checkin'), and I'd like to see Congress kindly but firmly start working with Mexico to figure out how to get their people to come home...Mexico's a good place to start with the immigration enforcement...there's no good excuse for having let things run this way this long, it's a money thing, somebody's makin' a buck...gotta figure out who, take away their profit incentive for breaking the law, then we'll see the end of this.
Someday, sure, we can have a guest worker program, but you're not serving dinner 'til the dishes are clean...

While I agree with enforcement of the immigration laws, there is a viable argument for allowing illegal immigrants to stay: Look at it from the perspective of a person living in Mexico. Jobs are practically non-existent, the standard of living is terrible, and the government is corrupt. Many of the people who come here from Mexico just want to make a living and support their families. They have tried the regular immigration process, but it's so clogged with bureaucratic red-tape that it takes forever and in many cases the reasons for denial have to do with bogus trumped-up criminal charges put out by the corrupt Mexican government. So instead, these people take the risk and enter illegally. Once they're here, the vast majority of them are law-abiding people who make a positive contribution to our society (READ: They have jobs). Sure, people complain that they're taking jobs away from Americans, but in reality they're not -- they are willing to do jobs that the spoiled-rotten elitist Americans wouldn't even consider doing. If we can see our way clear to allow a bunch of lazy-@$$ people who do nothing but squeeze out more children that they don't want and say "Gimme my check" at the Welfare office once a month to stay, then why should we get rid of a bunch of generally honest, hard-working individuals who are actually doing something and not being total leeches on our society?
How do we fix it? For starters, before we get so strict on enforcing immigration laws, we need to shorten the legal immigration process by cutting through the red tape. We also need to hold the people who are REALLY responsible for ID fraud -- THE EMPLOYERS -- accountable for use of false IDs and failure to pay income taxes. Once we get those issues fixed THEN we can concentrate on kicking out the small percentage of illegals who are stealing from social security and engaging in criminal activity.

Here's a real solution to this problem and the welfare and prison problems as well. Put the american people to work. Make the welfare people who are capable of it work some of these jobs, if they quit they loose their benefits. With so many people in jail on nonviolent charges, why not put them to work in the fields instead of leaving them to watch cable TV in a so called correction facility. We have plenty of people to do the work, it's up to us to get them to do it. If the jobs are not available, then immigrants won't be coming here for them.
And if Mexico is so willing to become American citizens because things are so bad there, then why don't we let this happen. Mexico can become the 51st United State with all of the privileges and detriments that go with it.

I am not a particularly fundamentalist person, but I keep coming back to the bible verse: "The Stranger among you shall be to you as a citizen."
It is only an accident of birth that we live in the US and others don't. Why should we have more access to good things than others? If they want to come here, I say let them come. Maybe if we looked at all people everywhere as HUMAN and not from this country or that country we might take a step towards making every country more habitable for those who happen to be born there.

Illegal Immigration occurs when -
1. people cross the Land borders and come to US e.g Mexico
2. people from Europe,China etc. come here and continue to stay even when their legal status(visa) is over.
3. Legal people offer jobs to such people to save money
New laws to be born are not easy as they involve many complications.
Best way is for the SSN guys to sit down one fine day(Sooner the better) and raid the houses.those who do not have SSN should be questioned and deported asap.
else we shall end up supporting 2 illegal families with our taxes. Many people dont realise that they are supporting one welfare family when they pay taxes.
I am earning for 2 families - 1. Mine. 2. Illegal family in US.
