Perhaps it's easy to dish out advice because we can give people a paragraph on what to do but we don't tell them how to do it, and we are not there to hold their hand through it.
Something that has become a problem in your life got that way because you didn't know what to do to nip it in the bud. After something has gotten out of control, how can you suddenly wake up one morning and change your world? It's hard.
Try breaking down your own advice into baby steps. That might make it easier to take action. Also, try asking a friend to help you or help keep you honest about doing what you need to do.

I have the same problem, it's easier for ppl to give and share how they are feeling with others, than it is for us to believe or own advice and our own feelings...... it's like answering a question " how to I build confidence?" u can say well "talk to yourself in the mirror in the morning always think positive and carry yourself with grace" but when we say to ourselves, I need to build confidence we go blank, even though we just told a complete stranger how to..................... r u following? I guess we feel better when we help someone else and give them great advice, then we do trying to face our own issues...................

BBC, You seem to be suffering from a lack of self-esteem. You sound like a nice person that is struggling with a cheating boyfriend and many other issues. I suggest you seek out a therapist or support group.

I know how you feel, it's scary that one can give this advice, but when it come to your own relationships it never works out that way... Maybe it's because we now already what is going to happen and hope that our advice will work for others?? Who knows??

tough one.I think part of it is that we have to live with the consequences of our actions or in-actions,not strangers(generally)I mean i can talk to you now better than i can talk to my own Mother .
But seeing things from a distance (about yourself) is helpful if difficult.Anyway that's y we are here for you.

Because it is easier to be objective when provided your opinion to someone else, but when you try to follow it yourself, emotions and human inperfection gets in the way.
It is always hard to practive what you preach.

Because it's yourself talking to yourself and you may not trust yourself. Many people have that problem, it usually comes from a lack of self-esteem, and that develops over time.

Because we tend to overanalyse our own advice to ourselves and can't view it objectively. Its true that we allow our own emotions to get in the way.
