I've had to learn the hard way that friends do become your chosen family. For whatever reason they may have, you just aren't living up to your family's expectations. You have to decide, for yourself, if it is more important to fulfill their needs or to fulfill your needs. If you haven't done this already, I'd plan a visit without the boyfriend to talk candidly with your family. Call them, tell them that you want a quiet visit to talk with them about something that will is important to you. Once there, calmly ask them the same question you did us. Be sure to let them know that you are torn between your soul mate and the people that you cherish, your family. Between you guys, maybe you can identify some solutions that will keep them in the life that you have chosen for yourself. Plus this will give them an opportunity to openly discuss why they don't think your boyfriend is the right man for you. I wish you luck and I hope that your family will learn to share your happiness.

21 years ago my parents were the same. Once my dad understood noone was taking his place he eventually and very slowly warmed to my partner. At first noone was good enough for me but then he realised i was allowed to make my own choices and mistakes as he would always be there wether he was right or wrong. Please dont fall out with your parents over this ease them into it slowly let them know they have nothing to be afraid of as you are happy and make sure they see you both happy. Unless he beats you and takes advantage of you they will eventually see he makes you happyand that is there main worry. My dad and partner ended up very good friends but my dad passed away 2 weeks ago

start up telling them each and every of the excellent issues approximately him in the previous you destroy it to them that he's Haitian. Get them to love him, and function all of them confident that he's a huge guy FIRST. perhaps then they are going to be nicer. i be conscious of the form you sense bc my kinfolk is Colombian and has a tendency to be style of judgemental of specific different ethnicities of human beings. Even another Spanish human beings they are severe of and you by no skill be conscious of so i replaced into apprehensive to tell them approximately my bf yet I have been given them to love him first as a results of fact he's so gorgeous and great, and then I advised them and weirdly they did no longer even care in any respect. the only component my dad stated "Puerto Ricans do no longer talk appropriate Spanish all they talk is slang." That replaced into all. LOL

listen to your parents. haitian men only marry haitian women. i know from watching two of my friends waste all their time. their culture is different. they don't marry outside. i dated one once. they are in to their own kind. i am pretty so i was like his trophy girl. i left him and he ended up with some ugly looking women from his country. oh well his lost.

I've been one portion of that equasion...sad as it is...You return the favour...and act as your family does..They will either come around or they wont..either way you have to BUILD YOUR OWN LIFE and your own family and set the standard. Sorry some people never change..and I lack the energy to fight them so I just let them be and go and BE HAPPY ANYWAY..

Don't force it on them. You can't make one person like another, whatever the reason. Just love them and perhaps in time they'll follow your good example and change.
