Cannibalism is a sin. It is common in the animal kingdom, but animals cannot sin. Humans were created to be over the animals, not to live like them. For a person to cannibalize a human being is to deny his/her God-given human nature. It is also to depend on his/her own resources in time of need, rather than upon God. In times of desperation, God will always provide, maybe not when you desire the provision, but God will provide it when he feels you are ready for it. People in dire straits need to learn to rely upon God for relief. God will often delay relief so that a person can learn this lesson. God is not cruel---he is loving, merciful and good. He will put us through test in order for us to see his holiness and for us to realize that we must depend upon him for all of our needs. Jesus loves you.

There's a story about rugby team players in the Andes mountains who had to be cannibals after their plane crashed there. They were from a Catholic school. They justified the temporary breaking of the taboo by saying that it's unfortunate that God had put them in that position. They also said that it's God's will for them to continue living, even if they had to eat their dead companions. The survivors said that they weren't eating their friends but rather their bodies. They apparently had an obligation to each other to survive. Indeed, they ran out of supplies after a few weeks in that cold, horrible weather.
Cannibalism is sick, but often it is necessary for survival. Sometimes we are presented with a survival vs. sin enigma; you could adequately justify both sides of that problem. When you have a choice to be a cannibal or eat other available supplies, however, you ought to choose the latter option. Don't break the taboo if you don't have to. Also, I doubt that dirt and pants are edible; sometimes, they aren't even available to eat. If you meant plants, though, then yes, they should be eaten. However, they may not even be available; such was the case with the Andes mountain people.

Of course cannibalism is NOT a sin. The doctrine of 'transubstabtiation' holds that the wafer of unleavened bread (cracker) that is used in holy communion, when consecrated, is magically turned into the ACTUAL FLESH of the Lord Jesus Christ. So, rather than being a sin, cannibalism is actually a blessed event, in which god is ACTUALLY EATEN, in the form of a cracker.
Just to be on the safe side, though... should you ever decide to eat your girlfriend, it would probably be a good idea to consecrate her first.

Practicing Catholics are, in theory, actual cannibals, because once the wine and wafers are "consecrated" they become the actual body of their dead god which they eat during Communion, So if it's OK with the Pope, It must be OK.

Well, let's hope that you never find yourself "alony" on a mountain with no food or water, and a dead body or two.
Just in case you do get yourself in such a predicament, get back with us and let us know how you manage.

it is unlawful in the starting up. And as for being a sin, i imagine in case you want to eat the useless to stay, like those adult males contained in the snowy mountains years in the past, it is nice by God. yet to kill a guy merely to eat him is a sin.

If there wern't any plants or animals, just dead people, I might eat them. It all depends on the situation. Have you ever seen the movie ALIVE!, you need to.

Well a lot of people eat dead people in life/death situations so in those cases they would die and who knows what you would do in that situation.
