Much better than HEY YOU! in a crowded room.
A quick way to get a persons attention, without everyone else knowing or wondering is if me?

No particular reason. You don't really need them most of the time. It helps at Christmastime to have name cards on the presents under the tree so that there is not a big fight over who gets which gift. Other than that, not really much point to them.

names are just a good way to destinguish people apart when you need to get their attention. You're not always looking at someone eye to eye when you start speak in a group- with names we know when someone is directing a question or comment to us specifically

Mostly for identification purposes. It would be kind of hard to talk to a group of people without using their name.

people have names so that they can easily communicate with one another. If they did not have names then they could'nt tell some people apart.

Because otherwise, when somebody shouted,"Hey You," everybody would look.
I'm guessing, just a long shot here, that you may have already known the answer to this question.
