This seasons look is wavy, which unless your hair is dead straight it probably an easier look to achieve, a little mousse and a diffuser attachment or scrunch drying. Perming is worse for your hair than colouring, but you could have a wave put through as opposed to curls. If you go for it, get it done professionally, I have had more than my fair share of disasterous home perms.

I seriously dont think getting your hair permed is a good idea, seeing as you have thick hair it will actually make your hair look even thicker!
Have you ever thought about having it permanantly straightened? It is the same formula as a perm and will make your hair seem thinner and you would not have to straighten it all the time.
If you do insist on a perm though, then i would recommend that they use extra large rollers on you so instead of tight curls you would have softer, larger curls which should suit your hair type more!
Good luck!

Of course it will ruin your hair. If you really want to get it permed, then go for it, but if you want it permed for the sake of perming your hair because it's still in "good condition", then don't do it.

perms are great but i would ask your hairdresser first and get their opinion about how it will look with your complextion and hair type. perms don't damage your hair at all because if you don't like it you can always get rid of it by breaking the rules and washing your hair before 48 hours has completed. but again i would definently ask a professional about getting a perm with the kind of hair you have

I have my hair permed and I love it. They're easy to take care of. I just use the right shampoo conditioner and hairspray (Aussie brand in the purple bottle with the kangaroo on it, it has no cfc's that deplete the ozone). All I have to do to get my hair ready is pick it out with a hair pick (don't brush, it frizzes) scrunch and spray. It's so easy and i love it!

Just say no... unless you are paying BIG BUCKS to a very well trained color/perm expert who can guarantee that your hair won't fry. I have strong hair too, but after having it colored... I waited six months and got a perm. Total mistake! My hair is soooo damaged that it take a ton of conditioner to make it look decent. Less is more, definitely keeping your hair as natural as possible is your best bet. SHINY hair is sexy hair. :)
