When Mary Magdellen had tried to touch him, after she saw him at his tomb, He did say not to touch him, for he had not yet assended to the Father. This would explain the three days, and he had also appeared to other people as well. On that Sunday, that we call Easter, he rose from the dead, but by Him saying rise, isn't assending to your Father in heaven rising too? Perhaps this is what was meant and it was translated wrong.

There are two theories regarding the timing of the crucifixion relative to the resurrection. The theory we currently operate according to is the one that "day" = a significant portion of a day. Thus, the belief was that Jesus died on a Friday and rose on a Sunday morning (more precisely 24+ hours but according to Jewish time reckoning in that era: three days). The second theory recognizes that there were two "Sabbaths" on Passover week (so a unique situation relative to most weeks). The first (Passover) sabbath would have been on Thursday, so Jesus would have been crucified on Wednesday and resurrected on Sunday. This means that the three full days would have been Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with some extra hours on Wednesday and Sunday just to prove the point emphatically. The only troubling part about this latter theory is the question of why the ladies wouldn't have gone to Jesus' tomb to anoint Him on Friday instead of Sunday.

First, the Bible clearly says that Jesus rose on Sunday (Mark 16:9); if there's any error there, it would have to be the other direction.
However, in Bible times, people considered a part of a day as a day when they reckoned these things.
For instance, King Rehoboam told the people he would answer them if they would return in three days (1Kings 12:5), yet he answered them the third day (1Kings 12:12), not the fourth if it had been a full 72 hours apart.
Similarly, Esther told the Jews to fast and pray three days as she would also do (Esther 4:16), yet the fast ended on the third day (Esther 5:1), not the fourth.
So while we might consider Friday to Sunday as "a day and a half," the ancients considered it "three days."

He simply says he would rise on the third day. friday was the first day, saturday the second, sunday (when He rose) was the third. He never said "i will rise again in 72 hours", He said "3 days".

He was crucified on Wednesday as the Passover Lamb. He rose sometime before Sunday morning. Three days and three nights. Will you believe the Bible or man's traditions?

if people accept that the la supper was friday evening it must have started after nightfall -- so in Jewish calenderical thinking, it was already saturday, making it even fewer days. And, if people consider the supper to be a passover meal, the meal stretches till after midnight as such, by the end, it was already Saturday by any notion...

ok, i could desire to respond to this one, at first, enable us to initiate with the uncomplicated stuff. Mark 15:40 two And now whilst the even replace into come, because of the fact it replace into the coaching, it is, the day before the sabbath, Matthew 28:a million interior the top of the sabbath, because it began to daybreak in direction of the 1st day of the week, got here Mary Magdalene and the different Mary to be sure the sepulchre. Mark sixteen:a million And whilst the sabbath replace into previous, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had offered candy spices, that they could come and anoint him. everyone who knows of Judaism, knows of that the Sabbath starts Friday night. Judaism counts days from night to night, because of the fact the bible reads, Genesis a million:5 And God called the easy Day, and the darkness he called night. And the night and the morning have been the 1st day. Friday night starts, for the Jews, Saturday, the Sabbath. Mark sixteen:2 and extremely early interior the morning the 1st day of the week, they got here unto the sepulchre on the becoming of the solar. Mark sixteen:9 Now whilst Jesus replace into risen early the 1st day of the week, he known first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had forged seven devils. John 20:a million the 1st day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, whilst it replace into yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken remote from the sepulchre. So, Friday night, that's the commencing up of Saturday, Saturday thoughout the day, Saturday night is of question right here. because of the fact the text textile of John reads, mutually because it replace into nonetheless yet dark. Jesus prophecied that he could be interior the tummy of the earth for 3 days and 3 nights, only as Jonah replace into interior the tummy of the super fish for 3 days and 3 night. it is specific. this implies that he does no longer emerge till the 4th day. determining that he could no longer try this, he replaced it and claimed, on the third day he could come forth. He nonetheless failed,...i want everyone to ascertain this...Friday night, one night, Saturday day, sooner or later, Saturday night, 2 nights, and that's the place it stops. Hell, "on the third day" potential atleast 2 days and 2 nights, he could no longer even get that suitable. what proportion human beings nonetheless have faith this crap??? And oh yeah, "the days have been shorter." i'm hoping that alter right into a humorous tale, moron. And if it replace right into a humorous tale, BRAVO BRAVO!!! super humorous tale to instruct the lack of know-how of blind faith.
