Where in Latin America or the Carribbean should I live?

Question

I am a new high school math teacher, male, and single. Have never been to the Caribbean or Latin America, but would love to teach down there (I had a few offers). One of my biggest concerns frankly is the type of women, as I am ready for marriage and LOVE Latin, black, and mulatta women. However, I would like to find someone smart, educated, assertive, physically fit. I worry that such women are few and far between in some of these places, because of poverty (feel sorry for them).

The countries I am considering are Colombia, Venezula, Trinidad, Cuba, Panama, Jamaica, Dominican Republic. My ideal woman would be smart, assertive, athletic, tough, and swarthy. Thank you in advance!

Sound like many teachers I had through out high school. Many of which I made great friends, and whenever we spoke about their experience in Colombia, they all conclude the same, "Colombia is Latin America's Best kept secret." Almost all uor teachers came with a one year contract, and ended up stayin for way longer. Probable you can communicate with one at www.kcparrish.edu.co that was my high school. I studied 7th and 8th grade in two different schools at Los Angeles CA, and I have to say that high school in Colombia is way cooler. If you get paid in US Dollars, your money is worth much more, and you might save/invest.
As for the women, you might get lucky, many nice looking women down here, but poverty is a common denominator. I trully think you won't regret your experience.

P.S. Forget about the drug movies and drug lords, that does not exist in the Coast (Barranquilla/Cartagena) Check Cartagena on the net, it's spectacular.

Chris,
the type of person you describe is more commonly found further south in Latin America. What you describe is someone with a certain amount of education, and cultural values which do not condone a neglected exterior. This is an almost European type, which you will most likely find in countries like Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. If you really are a lover of Latin America, you may also want to consider Paraguay; it is a magic place, with a population of very beautiful people, the majority of whom are actually females; it is considered prestigious in paraguay to be well educated, and there are a lot of really nice lady teachers there (Asuncion and surrounds would be the place to look - it gets a bit rural outside of that). Also, you may appreciate Colombians - if only the place wasn't so darn dangerous.

I lived and taught in Colombia for two years and the women there are tremendous. I can't speak for other countries, but those that have been elsewhere tell me that Colombian women are the cream of the crop. If you insist on 'morenas' (darker skinned women), then try Cali, Barranquilla, or Cartagena. Sure, crime can be a problem, but that's everywhere. The teaching was less than ideal, but the extra-curricular activities more than made up for that. Good luck amigo.

When many different ethnic groups or people as a whole are rude to others it may be because they have a great deal of money and feel that they can treat people any kind of way. In Miami there is a large Cuban population. Cubans are known to be some of the wealthier hispanics so this could be a reason for you. There is also a lot of racial tension among hispanics. Cubans tend to look down upon darker skinned hispanics like dominicans and many other hispanics look down on dark skinned Mexicans. Because of this, perhaps, Cubans feel "conceated" in some way that they are fairer skinned and the more favorable hispanic. This could be another reason why you may have encountered "stuck up" or rude hispanics while in Miami.
