Its unfortunately a debate that will be going on for at least a few more years. They have made some new developments lately about second hand smoke and are gonna crack down even more. The government will never get rid of alcohol because the taxes they make on it is the second highest profit for them behind oil. They wouldnt be able to afford to. Smoking will probably slowly die down in the next few years becasue it will not be allowed to do it anywhere.

Because non-smokers have to breathe that nasty second-hand smoke you're pouring out, and get poisoned by something they're not even doing! Not to mention the non-smokers get stinky clothes and hair from your nasty habit. And how about that nasty ash that blows off your butt and into my hair, eyes, coffee, clothes, etc. Ewwww!!!

I can't stand being around someone who's smoking, because they're imposing their bad habit on me. If you want to drink, I don't have to deal with any second-hand stuff, or smell like whatever you're drinking. If you want to smoke, I end up having to breathe it, so it's like I'm smoking too, even though I don't want to.

And smoking-related illnesses kill far more people every year than drunk drivers.

We need to have people we can look down on and revile. Political Correctness demands that we recognize alcoholics as diseased, and so we can't sneer at them with impunity; the same goes for drug addicts, the obese, and nearly everyone else.

There is no one left but smokers; they are a politically safe target.

Because second-hand drinking never killed anyone, unlike second-hand smoke.

Drunk drivers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
This is unrelated to smokers.

They can choose to pollute their bodies and the environment - have you ever noticed how much cigarette trash there is? - but I draw the line at polluting the air around me. Go somewhere else.

I really think it just gives them something to complain about.
I had a lady stop and get on me about smoking I just looked at her and told her that she could take her car into a closed garage and that I'd take a pack of cigarettes into a closed garage, she could start her car and I'd start smoking. In an hour we could both come out, although I didn't beleave she would have much more to say. She of course said a few choice words and walked off.

the guy above me, victory, is a RETARD! the reason we down people who do drugs is because it is inheriently BAD for society! it kills those that we love, it kills their brain cells, it changes them, it screws up our economy. what good can come from drugs an alcohol!?!?

that said, i drink a lot because im a college student..it is fun. but im not a damn alcoholic

Because smoking actually kills more people than traffic accidents, alcoholism, and murder combined...

Smoking causes many different types of cancer, lung & heart disease, etc.
