Tonsil Removal after 50?

My husband has to get his tonsils out next week... the dr. told him that this will stop snoring and prevent throat cancer. People should not have their tonsils in after 50.... has anyone else heard this?

No i haven't heard this, and working in the medical field I hear of more and more men mostly, with sleep apnea, that are getting their tonsils taken out for sleep apnea.

It will be extremely painful.
