Most dyes have a red base, over the counter dyes 99% have this, you need to go to a hairdresser and have them use one with a brown base

You need to use a cool or ash tone in your hair - the color box will tell you what kind of coloring it is. Warm toned colors give you that "red in the sun" thing - which I happen to love, but it's not for everyone.

Ash tones will keep the red highlights turned down. Golden tones will bring them back up. You may wish to use more of the ash tones to color or highlight your hair.

Check with your stylist. Sometimes the sun and its harmful rays can also cause your hair to turn brighter. Especially with color-treated hair. There should be some kind of leave in conditioner with sun block you can apply before going out.
