This doesn't prove anything, since people wrote the Bible and it is full of conflicting stories. I am an agnostic - as I believe in God, but I don't think it's possible for us to know God or define God. So how does that work? Well all you can do is try to listen to your own internal spiritual barometer to determine what is false and what rings true. I also believe there are many paths to God and your relationship with God is an entirely personal matter.
At least your question seems to be more mature than some of the answers you see on here.

First we need to determine which God we are talking about here. Are you referring to the real God, the unconditionally loving God who we are all a part of? This is the one Jesus was talking about when he said the kingdom of God is within you. The one who is our dearest friend and closest companion. You won't find much about this on in the nonsense of the bible.

Or are we talking about the angry little judgmental God that lives on some far off cloud called heaven. The one who seems to be more concerned with our errors than he is with our successes? You know the egocentric needy little God that always wants people to worship him. The one who is always unavailable because he is only a fantasy? You need to specify if you want a real answer.

Once I felt a lot like you are feeling now then something happened that made me feel the real Gods presence. I was an atheist then one day I had a sort of a vision of a distant relative that lived over a thousand miles away. I convinced myself that it was just a case on an overactive imagination. Three days later I got a call telling me that he had gone into a coma and died the same day that I felt I had been contacted by him. I can honestly say that this changed my life completely. I felt like God had gone out of his way to help me find my way home. This is why I get angry when people talk about the judgmental God. The love I felt that day made me realize that God would never even think about judging or punishing anyone for any reason.

No, He isn't but simply in you asking such a question, puts YOU in that category.

The devil interprets passages in the bible in the same way that you have just done.

It seems as though you are biting the hand that feeds you.

I'll bet you think your parents are jerks too; when they made you do something that you couldn't figure out the reasoning behind.
Would you ask someone are your parents jerks?

We are his creation. It is impossible for God to lie. If you made a robot, and it was intelligent enough to know how to do many things, even wrong things, that might hurt your other creations, would you not put such a being to the test time after time, to make sure it's right?

You sound like an ungrateful child through your words. If I were Him, I'd put you through a test right now.

I don't know what religion you have - I'm Roman Catholic. Honestly I don't have a bible close to me know so I can't see which phrases you are talking about. However you can't grab a line in the text and translate it literally. you have to read it in the context of the whole Chapter or even book. I.E. in "God causes suffering" the book of Job isn't a story of how God made Job suffer but how God tested Job's faith in Him. Also the understand the Scriptures you need enlightenment from the Holy Spirit and the help of people who are full of the Holy Spirit to help you understand. Lastly you have to understand the reading by the mentality of those times and by the problems and environment that was around in those times. This is what we call FAITH

Please, consider your sources...I assume your bashing those that believe that the Bible is the "Word of God (if there is one)" . Allow me to remind you yet again that the Bible ISN'T the "Word of God"...it was written by men about humanity. Where am I going with this? Well, the answer is that God can't be a jerk because he only might exist, however it's a fact that HUMANITY exists; therefore HUMANS ARE JERKS! PEACE!

Everything happens for reason, I don't care what it is, if it's God's will then it's God's will and there isn't one thing you or anybody else can do about! And no God is not a jerk!!! You knew from the Bible that the end of times would be coming, I'm not saying it's now, but it's nothing you can get away from!

Oh, these are certain characteristics that God should be attributed in order to qualify omnipotence.

... and remember the Godel's theorem - either incomplete or inconsistent or both.

God is not a jerk, however, when you try defining the God it leads to paradoxes, you could just stop with "God is.".

Yes, God is a jerk to the disobedient; the Book of Hebrews says that it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God, for he is a consuming fire.

Any more questions?

do you mean Jesus??? If so... 1) means that Jesus will test our faith. 2) means a king in general would do that. 3) God works against Satan not with him. 4) God causes suffering to once again test your faith. 5) God lets humans either be against him, or with him.... your free will. 6) God tempts to test your faith. 7) testing their fath. 8) God says there is a time for war and a time for peace, a time for happiness and a time for sorrow...

It helps if you quote it and actually understand it!

god isn't interesting i your opinion, about HIM-Self, he gave you free will, and freedom that its something no man can give anyone, its up to you to decide which way you can use such gift's, and i guess you decide to use then against the hand that it feed you. evil is just a force just time that also relative its just a force, so you can create your own evil if you which and decide to go a mouth god anytime you can. its that the best way to use god gift of intelligence to man?, if that is what you think I which you luck, and prosperity in your efforts<>
