I had one last year. I read that 1 in 4 women will have a miscarriage . Most women don't even realize they are having one they just pass it off as a heavy period. You will bleed for a few days. It is normal, once the miscarriage has started the doctor cannot do anything.

I'm so sorry, going through a miscarriage can be very devastating. I have had 5 miscarriages. Mine ranged from 5wks - 12 wks. They usually did an ultrasound to see how much of the pregnancy was left and according to that they would either schedule a D&C, which is a prededure where they put you under and scrap your uterus, or they would tell me to go home and wait until the bleeding stopped, then do another ultrasound to make sure I passed everything on my own. I would just make sure you aren't soaking more than one pad and hour or getting a fever, if so, I would call the DR asap. Miscarriages are very common, but they don't always mean that you will never be able to carry a baby to term. After all mine, I still have been able to carry 2 to term. Hope everything goes well for you, and listen to your DR, they know what's best for you.

I'm sorry you are going through this. And yes, once diagnosed it is best that you go home to finish the after affects of a miscarriage. You'll want to shower a lot and go to the bathroom a lot and sleep a lot and you may be vomiting. So home is the best place to be. And do exactly as the doctor says and make another appointment once the bleeding stops. She will check to see if anything from the pregnancy was left behind. My advice to you is rest. Eat. And maybe call a trusted friend to stay with you until this is all over. You need comfort right now.

I unfortunately had one in April 2006. I freaked out. At first, I thought I was just having a really heavy period and extremely bad cramps. Then I started bleeding through tampons every 2 minutes, then the clumps came. It looked like I lost 3 pounds of blood. It was horrible and very painful. I figured out what was happening, and just nature take it's course. The bleeding got lighter and lighter during the next few days, and then stopped. I havent had a period since then, and I just got a positive pregnancy test last week... so there's hope. My fingers are crossed! I say just let your body cleanse itself naturally.

Hi, It would be important to know how many weeks you were at the time. If the fetus was in the early stages and had nor formed what we call specialized cells then the lining could not be severly damaged and no reason for an operation. However if you still feel pain and discomfort, allow 3 to4 days to pass and in case of persistence contact a doctor. If you also suffer emotional disturbances tell your doctor at that time. Don't worry, it's not as important as you seem to think. Good luck

Sorry about what you are going through. Yes, I had a miscarriage 4 years ago. I passed all the stuff on my own. If they would have thought you needed a DNC they would have done one. I did not need one, and you must not need one either. To give you some hope, I now have two wonderful, healthy little children. My son just turned three, and my daughter is 9 months. Hugs to you!

I'M SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR LOSS.
I AM A NURSE AND CAN ANSWER THIS FOR YOU.
IT IS NORMAL FOR YOU TO BE SENT HOME. YOUR DOCTOR WANTS TO GIVE YOUR BODY A CHANCE TO CLEAN ITSELF OUT RATHER THAN DO A DNC.
MAKE SURE YOU MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT ONCE THE BLEEDING STOPS. YOUR DOCTOR WILL DETERMINE AT THIS TIME IF YOU WILL NEED THE DNC.
AS FOR THE BLEEDING , YOUR DOCTOR CAN NOT GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO STOP IT. IF HE WERE TO DO THAT THAN YOUR BODY COULD NOT CLEAN ITSELF OUT. IT'S KIND OF LIKE HAVING A PERIOD. YOUR BODY IS PREPARING TO BECOME PREGNANT AND WHEN YOU DON'T IT CLEANS THE UTERUS. IT'S DOING THE SAME THING WITH THE PREGNANCY.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SOMEONE WITH YOU FOR SUPPORT AND MAKE SURE TO GET A LOT OF REST.

I had a miscarrage 3 years ago. I was home for the whole thing, about 10 days. After I stopped bleeding, I went to see my DR. she checked me out and I was fine. I never needed to get a D & C! Thankgoodness. 6 weeks later We conceved our son who is almost 3.

I have been through 5 miscarriages and I think its best to be at home. Its hard enough dealing with the emotions of it without being poked and prodded on. One thing to check on though, are your partner and your rH factors. Do they not match? Because if you don't get the shot for that, it can cause future miscarriages.

nope but my i saw one live with my friend. t'was pretty scary too. listen, i don't understand why she sent you home. she should have either prescribed som' to stop the bleeding, or at least kept you in observation instead of sending you home. sounds weird to me... if you're bleeding heavily still i think she knows that it's too late anyway, but refuses to be honest. you should go back there i'd advise. and ask her to tell you EXACTLY what's going on!

sorry...
