I have had two attacks in the last week that the doctor thinks may be gallbladder related. I am to eat only "safe" foods for the next few days and I am not sure what those are.

You need to avoid spicy foods, acidic foods, high fiber and fibrous plants. This means nothing hot and spicy, no beans, no lettuce (other than iceberg), no tomatoes or citrus...

I am sure that if you call your doctor, he will prepare a list for you of things to avoid and you can just go pick it up from his office. They are there to help - all you have to do is ask!

Good luck and take care.

What is with your doctor? If you are having the agony of a gall bladder attac, he should have already sent you for some test. 1) Ultrasound of your gall bladder 2) HIDA scan 3) Liver function panel.
He should have given you a list of foods you may eat to prevent you from having the "attac".
Find a new doctor.
Eat a very low fat diet in the meantime.

Bland diet. No Spices, no caffeine, no chocolate, no flavorings, no grease or fatty stuff, no fried foods. Anything that might trigger the gall bladder to attack again. Stick to dairy and vegetables and fruits and plain cereals.

Don't eat anything greasy or spicy as this tends to aggravate the condition. Try to eat bland foods without a lot of additives.

Plain and bland foods that are not fried.
STAY AWAY FROM THE FRIED SPICY FOODS.
Apple sauce, rice, water, soup that isn't too salty, Toast
Anything that you would eat if you had diarrhea pretty much would be safe.

go back to your doctor and let him know that he didn't give you the list of safe foods. it should be a no charge visit. call ahead and explain to the receptionist as she may have overlooked giving you pamphlet list of safe fool. take care of your self and I'll see you on the spades table.

you cannot have more than 50 grams of fat per day. safe foods are chicken, no skin,no butter, not fried, nothing fried, no pastries, cake, ice cream, no high fat dairy, no red meat, etc...
basically anything with a high fat content.
I've been eating rice, bread, fat free pudding, potatoes, applesauce, drinking clear liquids.
It sucks-but trust me- if it's gall bladder it's worth it!
