That can be researched. I won't do that for you
I lived during that time.

Hitler had built the strongest war machine in history, from the '30s up to his initiation of WW II.

My family doctor, even for my grandparents was German born, a citizen for years. He was picked up in 1939 as a German spy.
I went to school with children of Germans. Parents also picked up, 1940.

No country at that time had the troop numbers, aircraft, navy, submarines, tanks, etc. to compare.
However, no country in history ever mobilized as quickly, or in such numbers as the US. Our total industrial complex, stepped into high gear after Dec. 7, 1941.
Not one more automobile, not one more refrigerator, not one more piece of machinery of any kind was produced, except war machinery, untill late 1945. Nylon was scarce, for hosiery, all went for parachutes. Candy was scarce. Sugar was rationed, coffee was rationed, fuel was rationed,
(avg. 5 gal per week),meat was rationed, butter was rationed and scarce, bananas were scarce, leather shoes rationed, and scarce, (leather went to Military boots), much more. All this was accomlished in a matter of a few months. Battleships, carriers, aircraft, tanks, guns, cannons, etc., some all accomplised in weeks. Thanks to the women who took the jobs to get it done.

Within a year or two, US became the super power, fighting on two fronts.

A Japanese Admiral once said, "We have awakened a sleeping giant." A General said, "We can never invade the US. There will be a gun behind every blade of grass."

Have I rambled? Sorry, but I don't think enough people understand the sacrifices during those times, or the capabilities and resolve of the US.

In reality, none of the German military services were very strong. What set them off and led to their early victories was training, organization and communications technology. Their tanks, for example, were fewer and less advanced that those of the French but the Germans had tank "teams" and radio gear and the French fought their tanks individually and used flag signals because they had no radios in their tanks.

The Germans HAD to fight lightning wars because they could not afford to get into lengthy ones. They had no staying power in the long run as was evidenced by the course of the war starting about 1942 once they lost the advantage of surprise attack.
