well, as you can tell from these answers, from a woman's perspective the c word is the worst.
however, you women seem to forget the man's side in this. for the (fragile) male ego, being called a loser is much more damaging than being called an a$$hole or di*k or some other slang term. loser has a "real" connotation to it. most men (and all people for that matter) are scared of being seen as weak or lesser than others. it is their role to dominate and "win", IE breadwinner. so, for him, being called a loser is much more hurtful than being called a c#nt.
of course he retaliates with the c word because he knows that from the woman's perspective the c word is much worse.
they are both hurtful, from different viewpoints.
if a guy were to choose which hurt him more, loser. he could laugh off the c word or any other slang for that matter.
i'm pretty sure the girl would rather be called a loser, because she could more easily ignore it.
why the difference, i'm sure some psychology professor knows. but there is a difference.
i say both are equally hurtful in the scenario you brought up. if i had to choose which was more hurtful, it would actually be loser, because it is a personal attack, where no one can actually BE a c#nt.

All these answers prove my point.
Most everyone has been inclined not to spell out the dreaded "c" word.
When have we ever referred to "loser" as "the 'L' word"? It is less acceptable to call a girl a c-nt than to call a guy a loser.
How much it hurts is a different question. It depends on who is calling whom the name and the circumstances they find themselves in. It would be better to try not to hurt people in the first place.

Oh, I HATE HATE HATE the "c" word. And the funny thing is that I honestly can't say why. It's really just as bad as calling a guy a "pr*ck."
If I had to choose between the two names, I think the "c" word is crude and insulting, but "loser" is emotionally painful, especially if the person is in a rough situation (ie between jobs) or has low self-esteem.

They are both bad. Loser is very personal as it assaults his character. **** is just generally derogatory. Personally I would rather be called a c_nt than a loser.

Names do hurt, but only when they have truth.
first you should stay away from people who tend to toss names.
then if in a situation where your being called a name, walk away.
And best of all, a name is called to you by the caller, think about the person behind the name calling. I am sure that person is no better then the name called tobegin with.

a guy calling a girl the "c" word. That is uncalled for. I always tease my boyfriend, I call him all kinds of stupid names. Loser is definetly one of them. If he ever called me a "c".... I would kill him...lol he has no right to call me that, it's vulgar. There is a difference between a childish name like loser and a hardcore name like "c"

Loser does not even begin to compare to the word c$%t, not even close well if you call him d%$k maybe, but still!! I think c$%t is worse than any name you can call a man cause we are women and women should be respected!!
