Go ahead and color, as long as you're not lifting color from your hair or lightening you can add or deposit color as needed. This doesn't mean go crazy with the colors of the rainbow. Just make sure you do not use anything with the word 'ash' in the color name...it will make your hair a tint of green in color.good luck.

Actually it depends on what the lightening process did to your hair. If there is no damage, then it is okay to darken (only) after 2 shampoos. If there is damage, absolutely wait 6 weeks. Don't know if it's damaged? True Test: Wash your hair with your regular shampoo and rinse. Try to run your fingers through before you condition...if your hair feels dry and is very hard to get through, wait the full 6 weeks. If it is the same as before the lightening process, it's okay now. For a second opinion, look in the phone book for a local cosmetology school and call and ask the teacher about how long and also about the test I recommend. Good Luck. (Tip - Go one to two shades lighter than you actually desire. Lightened hair accepts darkening shades very well. If you go with a med dark brown, it would actually turn out 2 shades darker than the box tells you it would be)
Also...As the stylist who submitted answered, do not use an ash brown if you lifted with a golden blonde. If you have red undertones it is best to use an ash brown because it will knock out some of the copper/orangey colors when you lift the color, but you can't add an ash, unless you lifted with an ash.

You should wait a couple of weeks, because if you do it sooner your hair will be put under a lot of stress. Also, make sure you use good quality products and a special conditioner.
