Its to do with the internal body temperature! That is, if you can increase your internal temperature by drinking tea, coffee, or any hot drink this has a temporary effect of fooling your system into thinking you are not hot thus feels like you are cooler on the outside.

The best drink is coconut milk, or if you prefer coconut rum, this has a cooling effect on you, hence why coconut is often served with hot curries to help cool down the meal!

Another way to keep cool is to try and keep your wrists and feet cool, as these are at the extremes of your body they have a dominant effect on your whole body temperature.

Its a weird one this, I live in Spain, quite warm weather, yet I much prefer to drink tea! So long as one drinks the tea in moderation as it is a mild diuretic, its still an intake of fluid. I dont actually like many cold drinks but do drink water, which I dont like cold! Even when I am really hot! Maybe its me thats weird........

Drinking tea wont make you cold, although when the weather is hot it's more refreshing because instead of giving your body a cold shock it maintains the temperature and gives you the needed liquid or so my mum says

Well if you are looking to cool down, there was a programme on tv testing which of the two, tea or a cold drink would cool you down quicker and it was scientifically proven that a cold drink cools your body down quicker than tea.

I don't know if it makes you colder but my ex-wife drank tea for years and it certainly did nothing for her temper. She too was asked about the Elephant,Oranges,Grapes and Barrels and with an inscrutable look (for a scotswoman she was very inscrutable) and she picked up her broom and flew away with the cat.
I should have known that it wasn't normal to make tea in a cauldron.

NO!!!! The BBC showed this by timing somones body temprature and giving them various drinks.

The doctor said there is no way a hot drink can cool you down, while it makes you perspire the problem is your body has to dicipate the heat you generate as well as the drink. A cold drink will cool you down much much faster.

It is suppossed to make you cooler, but I dont think it does. I prefer a glass of ice cold water. Tea seems to make me sweat more.
