im 14 and i'm always trying to wake up late every morning because its summer. but my mom wakes me up at around 9 every day because she says sleeping in is unhealthy for teenagers. is that true or is she making up an excuse for having me wake up early?

i want to sleep in but my mom won't let me. and she's even making me put my alarm on for every day if i try to 'sleep in' again

Well, it depends- if you go to bed as early as you can (maybe 11:30pm-12:00am or so), then sleeping until you're mom wakes you at 9 is fine I'd say. I think you'd get enough sleep. Now, if you go to bed at 2:00am+ then your mom should let you sleep, but only if it's the weekend! If she has to do the same thing on weekdays, she's trying to change your way of living and she's doing that right thing as well. Now, if she says sleeping is bad for, she is completely wrong. Sleep is totally essential, especially for a teenager! A teenager needs to sleep as much as possible to grow well! French people are usually small because school is so strict for them and they never get much sleep... anyway, you're a teenager, you're tired from growing, so you need your sleep. So, either you should change your time schedule- which is maybe what your mom is trying to do- or confront by saying that you need your sleep. Good luck and hope this helps! :)

sleeping is good for the body but too much can cause problems.unless you have a health problem 8 to 10 hours a night is enough try going to bed earlier and 9 am wont seem so bad.

Teenages need sleep!
well i always woke up late
and still do and im older now....20plus...
I love sleep but the only thing i would say
its bad cause you miss most of the day
and mornings can be a good part of the day.....
Someone said to me that you might as well enjoy as much sleep as you can while your young cause when you have kids you wont get any...so i tend to stick to that advice..Enjoy your ZZZZZ

Sleep is good for you. Especially if you are sick or tired.

If you are always tired in the morning, you could try to go to bed sooner at night. I know it's hard, I like to stay up later and get up later but that's me.

u need to sleep to stay fresh N healthy...Its good to sleep in the morning especially during summer...she is just making sure that u dont get lazy.

7 hours sleep a night is what is best for your body. Maybe she doesn't want you sleeping all day and staying up all night. It is her house.

Sleep is what makes your body heal,also,the mind. Sleep can regenerizie your system.Sounds like she just wants you on a scedule.
