A nice squirt of lemon juice in the salad will help the apples. Not much to do for the bananas. They get mushy pretty quick. My advice is to add banana per portion when you eat the salad.

The stuff starrlina is talking about is called fruit fresh and it does not change the flavor of your fruit like lemon juice will. The salt water thing does also work, but fruit fresh can be added and the salad can be made immediately.

Take a bowl and squeeze lemon juice in it and add cold water. As you are slicing the apples and bananas put them in the bowl and let them, soak for about 10 minutes. Dump the water and add the fruit to your other ingredients....no color change! Hope this helps!

When I make a fruit salad I usually add orange juice and lemonade. Tastes better than plain lemon juice.

Make sure you use lemon juice, but really fruit salad can't keep more than a day in my experience. I guess for the commercial ones they add preservatives.

Dip them into a bowl of Sierra Mist, 7-up, or Sprite, whatever you prefer. before adding to the salad. It also adds a great little twist of lemon/lime taste.

Dip the slices into Sprite, which contains citrus acid, but isn't as harsh as lemon juice.
