i noticed that whenever i get nervous my hands shake. Like when reading something from a piece of paper in front of a large group i can't even read because of the shaking. Even when i'm doing something which needed fine motor skills like sticking a thread through an eye of a needle my hands shake. Its bothering me very much. Why did this even start and how do i stop this?

I am not sure what is causing you to shake. I shake too and have since I was 18 mos old. I am now 26. What I have is called familiar tremors. It runs in one side of my family. There is medicine that can be given for shaking to help control it. I took it for a little while quite a few years ago. I didn't notice that big of an improvement so I stopped taking it. I've also heard that there is a device they can implant at the base of your brain to help. It is somewhat like a pacemaker. It will help your brain to send out the right waves to control the shaking. Mine is bad but not bad enough at this time to warrant something like that. I also notice when I don't eat right or when I get upset, mad, etc it is worse. Hope this helps.

Stage fright happens to the best of us. For me its the shaking of the knees. With stage fright you feel shy and worried about how people will think that you did. My advice is when reading in front of a group find out ahead of time or ask ahead of time for what you will be required to read. Then practice reading the item at home before you present. I as a nervous person always like to prepare a little bit ahead of time.

How you can help it go away is to let some close friends know that you get nervous. Their knowledge will lead them to complement you after a job well done. Once you get it stuck inyour head that you are doing an excellent job then the nervousness will be much less and after a while it will go away.
You have to work on having your self confidence being built up.

It seems you are describing two separate issues.

During public speaking, your hands are shaking because you are nervous. If public speaking is an important part of your life, you may want to attend a Toastmasters group to get over your fears.

Shaking hands while not nervous (such as when you thread a needle) could be caused by abnormal blood sugar levels. You should have your blood tested for diabetes, hyperglycemia or some other disorder.

Shaking while you are in front of people maybe because you are not comfortable in the situation and you maybe suffering alittle anxiety. There is a condition called uncontrollable tremors, this is when you shake for no particular reason. If it keeps up or get worse see your Doc.

Some people are born with a tremor and there is nothing wrong with them. Tremors can be caused by nerves or even low blood sugar. If there is no pattern or reason as to when your hands shake, consult a neurologist to make sure everything is fine.

are you stressed? are you nervous? if you're talking in front of a lot of people its only natural to be nervous. if you're nervous you're going to tremble. are you taking in a lot of caffeine? too much caffeine will make you shake also.

i went thru kind of a rough time a while back which made me shake a lot. it was nerves. you need to take a deep breath and relax. that usually works for me.

if you're really concerned about it and it doesn't stop you should go see a doctor.
