It depends who im talking to. If the guy is an egotist, i talk to him with my back...lol. Sometimes men think if you look them straight in the eyes you are interested in them, so i just glance occasionally in the eyes. For kids and other women, of course there is no other way of talking sincerely..

Generally, they can either be lying or very insecure about the positon they are taking in the discussion. Shy people also have difficulty maintaining eye contact.

Either they are shy or they are not being honest with you or are embarrassed by what they are talking about. When I talk to my family docotr about certain issues I do not look at him. When my father used to reprimand me I would not look at him. When my little girl had other people she did not know talk to her she would look away and not answer them. Maybe this person is really atttracted to you and is afraid it will show.

they are lying or guilty or high on drugs.
everytime i have lied about something I couldnt look whoever in the eyes... Or if I was high on narcotics...
Guilt goes with both of those....
I guess you could say its a form of body langauge.
yeah, intimidation too.. I cant look my husbands ex wife in the eyes most times,, (insecurity)

They are either rude, from a culture that deems it rude to look someone superior to them in the eye (some Hispanics), ashamed of themselves, or lying to you!

the person can either be interested in you (hence, he/she avoids eye contact; feels embarrassed and shy) or the person is disinterested in whatever you're saying.
