And just a heads up and some friendly FYI. No, I AM NOT planning on starving myself but I need some ideas that may help me out. Avery good friend from high school is getting married in september and I would love to loose about 30 pounds by then. Does anyone know how I can do that???????

Stop drinking so much caffeine. Caffeine stimulates your appetite. Drinking more water can also help you eat less. Some studies have shown that people think they are hungry when they are really just thirsty.

There are no tricks to weight loss.

The best, healthiest, most effective way to lose weight is to combine diet and exercise.

Diet:

1>the only way to lose weight is to consume fewer Calories than your body burns.
2> the only way to gain weight is to consume more Calories than your body burns.
3> you should eat 6-8 small meals each day - this prevents you from eating large meals that can temporarily slow down your metabolism

Exercise:

1> aerobic activity should be viewed as working your cardiovascular system and burning calories - forget about the claims that doing cardio at a certain time of day will burn more fat.... there is a little truth to it, but it doesn't really matter if you just end up eating too much food during the rest of your day.
2> weight-training should be performed by both men and women. It should be done in a progressive manner - continuing to do use more weight or do more reps, but using a weight that you can do more than 15 repetitions with is almost useless for building muscle. Building muscle should be your objective: more muscle = higher metabolism.


DON'T BOTHER WITH PILLS AND POTION - IT'S A GIMMICK TO GET YOU TO SPEND MONEY. THE NUTRITIONAL SUPPLEMENT BUSINESS IS WORTH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ANNUALLY. There are a few nutritional supplements that have been shone to work, but the effects are small and do not substitute for diet and exercise.

If you want to spend money, spend it on a nutritionist and a personal trainer (i suggest ISSA certified).

well if you jumpstart your metabolism you are gonna get hungry because you burn more calories the most healthy way to lose weight and keep is to completely change your eating habits and follow the food guide pyramid get plenty of water and give up those sweets.. i know its hard but true and avoid foods that have anything that says partially hydroginated and anything that ends in ose like glucose thats all names for sugars, which is very difficult i went shoping yesterday and almost everything said that. but good luck anyways. and remember not eating doesnt help you in the long run you cant not eat forever and when you start eating again you will put on the weight really fast no matter what you eat because your body panics and stores all the fats incase you "starve" it again!

Eat an apple every morning. Besides being healthy for you, its a great way to start the morning and it wakes you up better than coffee, so therefore you dont have the caffine and that will help you lose weight. Also eating an apple will curb alot of your cravings to eat more often.

This is what I did after i had my two children and it really works. It's a lifestyle plan rather than a diet cause they never work for life. If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit.

Here are the golden rules:
Initially cut down to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) calories.
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions. No gym involved if you don't have the access.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices

Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - muligrain sandwich w 50g tuna & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt OR skim berry smoothie (no honey or banana) plenty of ice, 1/2 cup skim milk & 1/4 cup yogurt

Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.

Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. If you have access to a gym include boxing and spin classes as well. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.

To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 (women) - 1800 (men) and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) cal and 6 sessions again.

well i would say deprive yourself for a couple of days until your metabolism gets used to that....but since you don't want to starve yourself you should just try to to excersize and be strict about what you put into your mouth....i mean.....you will feel hunger for the first couple of days just because your metabolism is not yet used to your diet...but it will get used to it eventually....
