I've been on both ends of this and I don't think that one situation is necessarally better than the other. To me the biggest factor is that both people are old enough to know what they are looking for over the long term etc. Beyond that, if they are in love, and can really feel comfortable with each other that's what's important. If they have that, dwelling on the age differance can be harmful to the relationship.

Either way you look at it, there's the risk of the younger one being somehow taken advantage of, even if not intentional, by the older one, simply for lack of a certain amount of knowledge, wisdom, self-awareness or self-assertion that comes with age.
Unless the younger is an 'old-soul' and older people are actually the more compatible and healthful for them, then I really don't like the idea too much.
But, love blanks those things out, y'know...? So a tough question...!

It is better for the guy to be older but not to much older. Like 1 to 2 years older. younger men are so immature.

I am currently in a relationship with a man that is 10 yrs. younger than me. I never dated anyone that much younger than me. Let me tell you, this has been the best experience in my life. When I'm with him, age never interfere with us. He has what I call an "old soul" so he is very mature. He treats me better than any man I've dated my age (I'm not that old). I think if our paths had never crossed, I would have never had the chance to meet the man I could fall in love with.

I have been married to the most wonderful lady in the world for the last 11 years. She is now 34 and I am 48. If two people are in love, it shouldn't matter what age either of them is! When you find your soul mate, there is no better feeling in the world.
