Some slipcovers look bad...they can look more like a sheet draped across your couch, but there are some out there that, if made properly, you can't even tell the difference. I bought a new livingroom suite, but I have pets, so I wanted slipcovers to protect them. The best thing to do is to find someone who knows how to sew...have them help you pick out fabric if you're not sure...I got the pattern for mine at walmart, and you would never know the difference. If price is not an issue...check out these webistes....

I think they look ok, kinda cheesy, but sometimes cheesy is better than clash-a-rific.
And so long as nobody sits on the couch- the sitting and shifting and moving around messes it up.

I have a chair that doesn't match my living room at all. I've put a slipcover on it, but every time my husband sits in that chair, and either I have to go and fix the cover or let it look like somebody used the slipcover to sleep in...

I have used them when the couch or chair looked bad. Don't buy the cheapest, it will show. Find one that is form fitted, instead of just a big sheet. www.brylanehome.com has had some nice ones in the past. The fabric store or craft section of Wal-Mart should have upholstery pins. Imagine a very thin nail that is in a spiral with a flat clear head. This is used to hold the cover in place, just twist it in in the places not seen or where it is needed. Just take your time and some extra care putting it on, it can really improve the look of a room quickly.

slipcovers are fine, you just have to keep tucking them in so they are fitted. Just get a solid color like off white and punch up the color with throw pillows!

They are a waste unless your never going to sit on them. They look great in the picture, but soon as you sit down, they shift all around and look like crap. There are decent throws you can buy that are much less expensive and easier to straighten out.

No. They look sloppy. I persoanlly would rather cover my sofas with garbage bags than a slip cover. And they're super expensive too!

If it looks better than your couch I say go for it. I put one on my Husbands couch when we were dating, it was the only way I would sit on his couch.

I don't like the look unless they are custom-made. The kind you buy at the store never seem to fit correctly.
