I start practicing English since last month. I want to speak fluently, elegantly & write effectively with correct English. As I am working in a trading company, I need to stay at office 9:00 am to 9:00pm. During my office time I am not always busy. In the morning I first update my incoming e-mail message & reply to our suppliers & concerned people according to the supervision of our Director. Second, I manage time to read silently a story & after lunch hear a songs by microphone with rapt attention. In the afternoon when I get some time I try to write the theme / summary of the story & song with simple English which I read & heard. After office hour I return home by bus. It takes 1.15 minutes to reach our home. In the bus I soliloquize (speak to myself) English on my read topics & memorise imprtant words from my diary. But I can not feel that my English is improving. Please advice me a new process. Please!

Shuhan, your English is already very good! Your meaning is perfectly clear despite a handful of awkward constructions. I am a high school teacher in the U.S. and I can assure you, your written English is already better than many young people who were born here. And I sincerely admire how hard you are working to learn a second language.

However, if you still want to improve your fluency, you need to converse regularly with a native English speaker. Since this may be impractical where you are, perhaps you could find an online pen-pal. Ideally, you should find a way to communicate in real-time, so you have to compose your responses quickly. I am not an expert on "Yahoo Messenger," but I think the IM (instant messaging) format would work for you. Good luck!

You should read as much as you can. The better reader you are the better you'll become at English. Read books, newspapers, magazines. Also if you get books on tape, you can read along and hear the pronuncation of words.

I have also used the Rosetta Stone program for computers. It's a very good program that teaches basics of languages.

p.s. I think you have very good english and good spelling. Keep up the great work.

It will be good if you try to watch English or American movies, so that you'd get to learn how to use English properly in conversation. Reading books would also help a lot, but books can be too formal. I started with children's books when I was younger, and it helps.
