An MRI is a big magnet that lines all your ions up and produces a picture for interpretation. There is no radiation involved.
A CT is computerized tomography that uses radiation, coming at you from various angles to zero in on specific levels within your body.
Each has it's advantages &/or disadvantages. There is not always one better or best exam for each person.

I think that an MRI can see things that a Cat Scan will miss, but only someone with good medical experience would really know.

MRI"S use magnets and you have to go into this little tube thing that seems like a sewer culvert very small.. a
cat scan i'm not sure what it uses radianton or something and its just this little donuty thing that goes over you..
neither hurt or are painfull..
mris are kinda scary if your claustrophobic so if you have to go for one and are i'd ask for a seditive as you have to hold very still and not move around to get a clear picture.. and if your nervous you move about..
i always get a sedative

Computed tomography (CT) a capacity of physique imaging wherein a skinny x-ray beam rotates around the affected person. Small detectors diploma the quantity of x-rays that make it interior the path of the affected person or particular component of pastime. a working laptop or notebook analyzes the strategies to construct a go-sectional image. those photos could be saved, considered on a computer screen, or revealed on action picture. to boot, 3-dimensional fashions of organs could be created by capacity of stacking the guy photos, or "slices." MRI is a non-invasive technique that makes use of useful magnets and radio waves to construct pictures of the physique. in evaluation to commonly taking place radiography and computed tomographic (CT) imaging, which hire doubtless risky radiation (x-rays), MRI imaging relies on the magnetic properties of atoms. a useful magnet generates a magnetic field extra or less 10,000 situations greater than the organic history magnetism from the earth. a very small share of hydrogen atoms interior a human physique will align with this field. Please see the cyber web pages for extra info on CAT test and MRI test.

An MRI is :
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), is a method used to visualize the inside of living organisms as well as to detect the composition of geological structures. It is primarily used to demonstrate pathological or other physiological alterations of living tissues and is a commonly used form of medical imaging.
A CATSCAN is a medical imaging method employing tomography( the technique of using ultrasound, gamma rays, or X-rays to produce a focused image)used to generate a three-dimensional image of the internals of an object.

They accomplish the same sort of things: imagary without surgery. CAT uses xrays, and MRI uses magnetism. Each one has it benefits depending on what you want to image.
