Green Street Hooligans, is not a typical English person film. It is Hooligans, which suggests that the guys arn't functioning properly to start with. Not all English go to football matches either. That said, Bush is not doing the American cause any good.

I have many family and friends in the US and have been over there numerous times. It is not true that Brits hate Americans but many who come here give you guys a bad name! It really depends where you come from but the Americans that most people can't stand in the UK are the ones who:
- complain about everthing from the tea being too hot to the ice cream being too cold!
- think that America is the best country in the world even though they never been out of the country and think Little Italy is as authentic as Italy itself!
- are in favour of the government imposing their beliefs and values on everybody else by force.
- speak through their nose.
- are totally incapable of accepting that people are capable of having their own viewpoint against what is fed to them by the biased US media.
- brag about how sucessful they are and how much money they make (I think this one is really a cultural difference) which is viewed as materialistic, showy, arrogant and immodest.
Another minor thing i noticed in the US is that "please" is not often used when requesting something in many situations and no offence is taken. But here, "please" AND "thank you" is the norm and offence is taken if not uttered.
However, I'm sure there are several things that the world hates about the UK.

I'm sure there are lots of perfectly nice Yanks, but the country as a whole is seen as very arrogant and ignorant, and Americans are often stereotyped as such. I think it's mainly your government and Hollywood, and their refusal to ever cast us as good guys and their ability rewrite history in your favour, that winds us up.
Most people will get irritated with your country as a whole at some time or other, even if only briefly, but I don't think most of us know enough people to make good assumptions about them.

I know this is supposed to be answered by the UK only, but I want to jump in, if I may:
1.) All American's are not ignorant war-mongers- I find that the less educated Americans- the ones with a poor educational system (in the south, in the midwest) tend to be more ignorant- for obvious reasons, and they tend to follow whatever the government says to them (ie. GWBush). This irritates me. The politicians in this country tend to manipulate the ignorant to no end. Bush with his "axis of evil", played into the christian mind by claiming that these people are evil- and anyone with a "good christian heart" should stand behind him to stop them.
2.) Post 9-11, anyone who isn't "with" the government is against it, and construed as "anti-American" to other Americans- this irritates me as well, as I am with the thinking that people in other countries should live their lives their own ways- there should be no one (ie. GWBush) that should push their values onto others. Our government has brainwashed people, for years, into believing that it's "our way or the highway". Shame.
3.) Not everyone voted for Bush- in fact, the majority of people did NOT vote for Bush- that's the electoral college for you.
4.) Not everyone in America is arrogant and demanding, although, I must admit, there are those who are, but those are the people who stand out in your mind- so they can BE the minority, but be viewed as the majority, in hindsight.
There are so many other things about Americans that may be looked upon as pushy, arrogant, ignorant, and the like, but that doesn't mean that 100% of Americans are like this. Just the ones you see in the media and on the news. The rest of our educated, open-minded, liberal population just get forgotten.

I don't mind american, but i don't like the way the country treats it's people, the difference between the poor and rich is big. For example the minuim wage is worth less then what it was in 1970 it doesn't mean that today wage aren't because they are but the fact they avne't rose with the cost of living and taxes . I hate the way the religion has influenced political decisions. Indiviually they are all right but collectively they are stupid and igronrant.

To be honest i imagine there's somewhat supply and take in any courting. i'd say the Brits that do declare to dislike the US are generally below the impact that individuals are brash, insensitive and finished of their own self importance. notwithstanding some individuals may have the very similar opinion of the Brits. now and again in recognising a similarity in some different person it causes us to dislike the guy, because it makes us uncomfortable seeing some thing we don't love about ourselves in some different person! for my section I inderstand The States is a huge position with many variations, so i does no longer presume to label all 'individuals' below a similar label any extra then i'd placed all 'Brits' I surely have many close American friends and desire it continues to be that way. i visit be certain united states or what that is, yet then i visit be certain my own u . s . for what that is to boot!

whenever i have been to the usa, the americans have been very accommodating, especially as soon as they found out i was from england.
however, i do not agree with people such as paris hilton, and everyone who thinks she's the greatest thing since mcdonald's.
all the americans that i have met have been lovely, but there are some exceptions, i mean, there seems to be a big problem of racism, which i don't quite understand, because most people came from other countries.
i like the usa, and especially las vegas and san diego.

As friends on a superficial level they're fine, I personally find them abit shallow, good fun but a certain something missing for an abiding friendship. To work for awful. Nice to your face while the heavies are clearing out your existence in the next room. Seen it happen too often in american firms. On the whole, not great but not bad either.

ive got nothing personally against the amernicans, its just they seem to really wind us british up, they allways seem to be the first to jump in a war and be trigger happy, look at ther mess for instance bush is in,and they like to be one step in front of us british all the time, they seem to think we owe them something for some reason, there very self opinionated people and very loud and over the top with there exspressions on life, where us british seem to go with the flow and say what the hell lol.
i must admit if im honest they really do wind me up the majority of the time.
when at the end of the day there no different from anybody else in this world except there americans.
im glad im in england away from it all.
