Hey guys and gals.

Ever since I'm 6, I've pestered my parents to get me a cat. It goes something like this every time:

"Hey dad, can I have a kitten?"

"Ask your mom."

Then I ask her:
"Hey mom, can I have a kitten?"

"No." "You had one when you were 4 and you didnt take care of it."

Grr... It makes me so angry how she doesnt let me even though that was when I was four!
And then, I remember I didn't even liked her because my brother always told me she was his! So yeah.

I havent asked her in quite some months, so if I ever ask her again, I'm sure she wont get angry or anything.

How can I convince her?

I was thinking of buying one without her permission.
I know she wouldn't really care, as long as I take good care of it afterwards. My brother's done that too, and she didnt even care.

Is that a good idea?

I do have space (in my house) and money to take care of a cat, and none of us have allergies, so I know that is not the problem.

Any help would be appreciated!~

Lmao at Jay. XD

Err.. I forgot to add a small piece of info.

The reason she doesnt like cats is because they drop a lot of hair. (Or so did the can we had)

Is there some kind of diet or product to stop it from dropping much hair? If I can find it, I'm almost sure she'll let me buy it.

Edit!: My mom keeps saying no, but my dad worked out a deal with me. I told him he can take out the computer from my room (I'm a computer addict <_<) and he will convince my mom to let me have the cat.

I don't know if he will really do it, because whenever we have a deal like this, he just forgets it and hopes I forget it too.

Eh.. I hope he lets me.

Remind your mother that you are not 4 any longer. That is too young for any child to be considered the responsible caregiver for an animal. Then tell her that you want the opportunity to be responsible and care for something other than yourself. I would tell her to give you 6 months, and if after that time she thinks that you are not caring for the kitten, then you agree to find it a new home. Even draw up a contract, with the dates and you both sign it, something binding where you meet each other half way. Approch the situation in an adult manner with respect for your mothers wishes. If you have any funding (allowance, odd jobs, etc...) tell her that you will pay for all it's care. You may need some help with the vet costs for vaccinations and such, but again, you could offer to take a decrease (I know - ouch) in allowance as a means to repay your parents. Again, this could all be in your contractul offer. Good luck and let us know what happens

Ok, well, you might want to show your parents how you have matured since age four. You could clean your room or take care of a neighbor's pet while they're away as well. Buying a cat on your own wouldn't be such a good idea, because they will want to get rid of the cat and punish you as well. So, all you have to do is show your parents how responsible you are; a cat may follow.

as long as YOU can make a life time commitment to the cat, that means vet bill (neutering, vaccinations etc), buying the food. cleaning up any mess it makes, staying in if its poorly. finding someone to take care of it if you go on Holiday.

your parients abviously dont think you can or will do all this every day of its life and they dont want to be stuck doing this.

if you are responsible enough to do this then sit down with your parients and TALK to tham about how you feel and try to come to an agreement to you doing sometheng to prove you are responsible enough. (like maby cat sitting or do some volenter work at a cattery for a while)

prove to your parents that you can take care of something smaller first, such as a hamster or guinea pig. After proving you can take care of a rodent, ask your parents if you can have a cat, when they're in a good mood. If they don't say yes, then chances are you will have to get out on your own.

Tell her the cat can stop the mice in your house and the cat will protect you meaning the cat will keep things out of your yard and no one can get in or break in because your cat is always on the case

dont buy the cat withiut her permission, you should not give up, you should always gain ur parent's trust. don't nag her, just say u want it and then act that u r so obbsesed with cats and if u see any give a longing look at the cat, any parent will fall for that.
