Hi, once they find out thier status and whether they are HIV positive or hae full blown aids they will be offered support and counselling from the NHS but the best advice |I can give to you is to try to keep everything as normal as possible for them, also your health is not greatly at risk as long as you are sensible about covering cuts etc. Good Luck

How have they been diagnosed and they don't know, BUT you do? Something isn't right in Denmark. THEY should be the first people to find out. That is after the lab tech and doctor. But another confusing thing is they are in their sixties? But I guess more importantly HIV is not a death sentence these days. YES I know it can and often does lead up to AIDS. BUT they can live a near normal healthy life being HIV. The attitude is everything. REMEMBER this as they should. It'll be easier than you think. I know a few people who are HIV positive, and you'd never know it.

Reassure them that with today's medicines they will, in all likelihood, live to a very ripe old age and die no sooner than they would have if they were HIV negative. It does not deal with the psychological effect of the news, but at least it's something.
Good luck.

Stay friends with them (don't think you'll have HIV/AIDS ) just by being around them
I lost a very special person in my life to the same thing and he taught me so much and to this day I miss and think of him

Sometimes people are alot more resilient than we give them credit for and with a diagnosis of HIV, AIDS it is not a death sentance there are many drugs available to them to be able to keep them relatively healthy also counselling and support centres are there for them if and when they need them.

It is appalling that these two people have had their confidentiality broken....they may have decided it would be best for others not to know...and now that human right has been taken from them. people in this age group can be vey ignorant on this subject and they may lose friends unneccesarily!!!
Whoever took it upon themselves to reveal this confidential information should be struck off the medical register and then shot !!

Just be there for them, offer your support once they've learned the news and had time to take it in. I would be very cautious about your own health around their house though (if you go there), it may only take one tiny trace of blood to get infected yourself.

Let them come to know of it on their own. You may lend your support, once they come to know of it.
