I would like to be smooth but am worried that I will be too embarrassed to get into some awkward position or something.

If you're too embarrassed to get it done - why bother? You'll probably be too embarrassed to show it off!

I was really embaressed the first time, but it is OK. Treat it like a smear test or getting changed at the gym or something like that and chat about inane things like the weather or big brother or something to deflect how exposed you are feeling- it'll be over before you know it and trust me they will have seen it all before and will be much less bothered than you - after the first time it gets easier
and def don't try to do it yourself - it'll hurt more and not so effective, plus you run the rish of really hurting yourself!

If you really want to do it then do it - you could go somewhere other than locally but probably best to get a professional place to do it and I am sure they are very used to it!!
I thought about getting waxed myself - but in the end just trimmed and shaved!

don't worry it's fine, as long as it's a professional doing it, they are not looking at you judging you just trying to give you the best wax, and most therapists know what it's like so will be understanding.

buy youself a vidal sasoon bikini trimmer then you will not have to worry.... plus if you are in the uk i can sell you one.
