Totally, just look at the so-called traditionalists trying to hijack power in the Anglican church at the moment,
"They are conducting a witch-hunt against homosexuals" ...
the former Dean of St Paul's Cathedral recently made the accusal in his retirement dinner speech, Dr John Moses also said,...
" The thought that anybody should be shown the door by the Church, I just find that deeply offensive".
It is vile exclusive and discriminatory behaviour!

I have a down on religion in general. I'm disgusted by the way religion is being used to further political causes. I'm disgusted by the way some use religion to strip others of their humanity and basic human rights. I'm disgusted by the manner in which some people talk about Jesus and yet fail to keep up with his biggest commandment of loving one another. I'm disgusted by the lack of help religion offers others who are less capable of helping themselves. I'm disgusted by the selfishness demonstrated by those who call themselves religious. That "me, my family and my country first...then anyone else" attitude is what Jesus came for. He came to demonstrate how working for the advancement of all people as a whole, how loving and helping each other was the better way. Instead, I see power hungy people working only for the betterment of themselves and those who believe and think the way they do.
This is why I will have nothing to do with an organized religion, especially the Catholic or Christian Churches.

LOL I don't think that is limited to Christianity (I think you can easily think of two examples of non-christians who are going so right now).
My down (and I am a beleiver, though not canon-religious) is that so many vile things have been done in the name of Christianity - the Inquisition, the Withch Hunts, St. Bartholomew's Night in Paris... the list goes on, and on. Those were not done by people who wanted to be bad. They really beleived they needed to do those things, and that spooks me out.

All religions are like that sadly. I've seen more than enough examples of religious ignorance, stupidity and impracticality. These morons have no connection to reality, so they replace it with their own versions of reality only to either be depressed or go crazy in the end. For those who remain in the faith...the challenge then is to avoid these guys and ensure that we dont end up like em.

A Christian is defined as "Christ Like." A Christian is someone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior; someone who is faithful to the teachings of the Bible---the inspired Word of God---and who shares the Good News by being able to "defend their faith" to any who may ask. If some are offended by Christians who stand by the Word of God, who answer questions as they pertain to their faith with conviction and power---it is because Jesus told us that he would rather we be hot or cold----but lukewarm Christians he will spit out of his mouth.
I'd rather be on fire for Christ, thanks. If that is what you are calling "self-righteous," then so be it. Christians would describe that as having a conviction of faith,
Putting on the whole armor of God----hiding His word in our hearts that we might not sin against God.

i agree your right , far to many groups who make anyone who has any faith think twice about it,
Don't have a down on it, decide if your own is the true one for you , don't be swayed by events,
i have no specific leanings to catholic, Hindu, Buddhist but i would say i am religious

Not pushy....but YES, God is the answer to all our problems. The trouble is it's all based on faith. If you don't have faith, you have no religion or God. If we do muster up the faith then God grants us his grace to receive anything further as we become disposed to receive the graces and gifts. He is real and miracles do happen....prayers are answered....

Your problem seems to be with just the one faith, and not all religions. Am I correct,or have I misread your last few posts?
