why would the mormons be considered a cult????

i am mormon and tired of people calling us a cult....and making fun of us.....do u see us making fun of other religions???

Just tell people this the definition of a cult is when you have a human leader that the people are following. Mormons believe in God and do not have a human leader.
There meetings are open to the public, not held in secret.
They can leave the organization any time they want.
In a cult you cannot. They are not brain washed but taught right principals. Actually we could all use a little brain washing.
Some people who have branched off have made them look bad,
Those persons are not actually a part of the morman church.
I am not a Morman but have a wonderful friend who is.
I am so tiried of people calling every religion they don't know anything about a cult. You don't have to be a Babtist not to be in a cult.

Well a cult is anything that denies the deity of Christ and als denies the Biblical foundation of Christianity. The very fact that Mormons derive their foundation for their beliefs from the Book of Mormon and not the Bible precludes us from callin them Christians and makes them a cult.

From a Christian standpoint a cult is any group that rejects the deity of Christ. That would make mormons a cult in our eyes.

To term a religion other than one's own a 'cult' is generally done to attach a negative connotation, such as that the theology is wrong. Every religion claims to behold the truth. That naturally makes everyone who thinks differently "wrong" or, sometimes "bad".

I think most people who associate the Mormon faith with a cult do so because of the mystery and secrecy surrounding some of your faith's practices. Just my 2 cents worth.

I do not make fun of Mormons, but there are quite a few items that are basic tenets of your religion that conflict with the Bible.
