Not a good idea and very poor judgement on your supervisors part. It is very unlikely that he will be able to separate your personal relationship from work. What was your experience with your ex husband? I realize he wasn't your supervisor but how did it impact your work life. If you tell this person no will he take it professionally? or will he hold it against you? I would politely decline and tell him that it wouldn't be professional. If his actions towards you change I would IMMEDIATELY let your Human Resources Dept. know all the facts.

I only believe dating in work should be between persons who are in different department, which do not connect in anyway like Distribution and Human Resource. You dating your supervisor is risky. No offence but if this does not work out, how will the situation between the two of you be? If it works out, does that mean you are encouraging other staff to have intimate relationships. I was told of a story whereby staff used to have sex in the office and when caught they used to state that they are following the ceo who happened to be married to his secretary.

Most work relationships end in tears and a different job, but you never know. A supervisor - employee relationship is probably even more fraught with potential danger.

It is a bad idea, if anything goes wrong in the relationship then you will lose your job. I gaurantee you that. Think about boyfriends that you have broken up with or broke up with you in the past. Do you want to go to work everyday to see them? What would you do if you find out he is seeing others at your job? Listen you are making a big mistake my friend. Big Big Mistake.

Whether a short or long relationship develops, one of two things will occur.
A permanent relationship that "may" lead to marriage.
An unhappy ending and you will be looking for another job. It will be you or him. Any idea who? Most often.
He has more to lose than you do. Aside from pregnancy.
There are three major causes of business or executive failures.
Women
Gambling
Drinking and /or drugs.

If the relationship goes well then you could get a raise or a promotion but if it turns sour then you could lose your job.
It's a gamble.
