Whenever I use to download a photo it is of >1 Mb in size although when my friends use to mail me same image (after scanning) it is of 300 kbs appr. only. I would like to know that whether there is any way through which while scanning image size shall be minimal.

yes it is almost the scanned image size will be stored in .bmp format so it will be higher in size but if you cover it in to an prf or jpeg file it will be reduced so u try to conver the file type after scanning the picture.

If you want to adjust the size of the images, you can go into the scanning preferences and change the file type and resolution. I'm not sure what kind of software you are using, but some programs give an estimate of file size before you scan.

Not quite sure what you're asking, but it sounds like you have a resolution problem. The higher the resolution, the bigger the image will be. The lower the resolution, the smaller the image will be. Likewise, 300dpi (dots per inch) is the normal sizs to scan at when you want to print it out.
